what does it means “battle net edition”?
and what the difference between this and remastered?
the battle net edition, was a technical refurbished version of the original game, so it worked with the changes on the old battle net network infrastructure.
remastered is an overhaul of the game that brought new graphics and technical changes to bring it to the modern “battle net” network. They also made some gameplay changes to the remastered version.
so is there something that the battle.net editions
gives that the remastered don’t?
Normally Remastered is a revamp of Battle.net Edition (released in 1999) so it included everything.
But… some things can be missing, like Bnet Ed. got stats & ladder that Remastered doesn’t have. (maybe auto map downloading too, Bnet features to sum up)
so if i’m not interested in pvp i’m not missing anything, right?
Battle.net Edition is the final release of the original Warcraft 2 that effectively gave it online features on par with what Diablo II and Starcraft Brood War had at the time. If I remember it also added the food display at the top of the screen when in previous game versions you had to select your farms to see your supply count.
Remastered is a graphical overhaul based off of the Battle.net edition of the game. its main features are high definition graphics, expanded unit selection to 12 from 9 as well as grid hotkeys. There have also been some balance changes that have nerfed the ogre-mages, Blizzard/Death and decay spells, while buffing paladins, trolls/archers, and the gryphon/dragon.
