How do you do that? I can’t launch the game directly (it complains about no battle net connection). So how do I launch the game as admin from battle.net app?

How did you do that?

Try go to where the game is installed and run simply Warcraft2.exe in admin mode.
OR
Try to run Battle Net client in admin mode and test the game again.
OR
More technical solution : Take your right back of the folder where the game is installed, if your Windows account have admin right, then you’ll gain admin permission.

Ok here’s a REG File to help you add “Take Over” on contextual menu to anything
Create a REG file with Notepad and name it “Take Over.reg”, write this text on it and then run the REG file.

After that Kill explorer or Reboot PC and then take Over your files and folders by right clicking on it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]
@="Take Ownership"
"NoWorkingDirectory"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]
@="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"
"IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
@="Take Ownership"
"NoWorkingDirectory"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
@="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"
"IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%1\" /r /d y && icacls \"%1\" /grant administrators:F /t"

Ok if you don’t like the feature, here’s the REG file to undo the “Take Over” feature.
Create a REG file with Notepad and name it “Remove Take Over.reg”
Write this Text and Run the REG file in admin mode.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]

Thanks for the answer.

Running game with .exe gives me a Battle.net connection lost screen and makes the game automatically close.

Running the client with admin rights does not help.

What about Taking Over your rights as explained too ^^
If it’s really permission problem you should fixe this like that.

This is what worked for me on Windows 11.

Find Warcraft II.exe (Mine was here - C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft II Remastered\x86 )

Right click it and go to properties.

Open the “Compatibility” tab on the top.

Check / Enable - Run this program as an administrator.

Click Apply and Ok.

Run the game as you normally would within the Battle.net app. It’ll prompt to run the game as admin, click Okay, but now the game will function.

That’s actually solved both problems (save bug, pause bug). Thanks!
