I’ve troubleshooted the crap out of my compatibility issues, security issues, server issues… I still can’t connect to battlenet…

this is because blizzard have not updated the installer from 1.14b to 1.14d since they have no idea what there doing with this classic game hence the fail of d2r… if you connect to asian server, will start downloading the patch
Side note: if you fail to install the patch you are temp banned from server for 48h, to insure it works when 100% downloaded and goes to desktop “task manager” force the game to close then patch will install… ive asked blizzard for a copy of 1.14D and was refused saying it alto updates when log on… if that fails Again… install on another computer and update then COPY onto a memory stick and PASTE over your coppy… this will insure its not your computer GL friend
