I’ve been through the whole rigmarole of clearing data and cache uninstalling/restarting my phone/reinstalling the app so many god damn times. As well as removing and adding my phone number to my account. “oops, something went wrong” prompt with every action I do in the app. I’m on an android.
I’ve talked to “support” staff and they redirected me here, so here I am.
Also, having this issue. I had to detach my authenticator to log in because the app wasn’t working. Now I can’t reattach it because they app keeps saying oops something went wrong.
I have the same problem because apparently the authenticator was discontinued a few days ago. Also, my phone number is outdated in my account, which is preventing me from even opening a support ticket. I am completely locked out of updating my account.
Can’t login through game client. Can login to game manually. Battle.net on mobile also down. Weird CDN issue?
same problem been long time
The mobile battle.net app says “oops something went wrong” when I try to log in.
I have followed whatever guides I have found and none work to fix it.
Edit: Perhaps there is a difference. I might have done something in between to result in different end.
I had tried to follow the suggestion to delete cache. I had done that through my phone directly (as in find installed stuff on phone settings and do it there) and it had not worked. Then there was a post from blizzard here on these forums where they said to delete cache, but they offered a way to do it through the app. That three dots, then circle with “i” in it. After that the login succeeded.
There was another problem afterwards. It wanted me to authenticate that login through authenticator, but the authenticator is inside the app that I was trying to log into. I was somewhat confused at that point. That got fixed by sending sms security code.
Not sure what to do otherwise.

This helped me fix the issue 100%. I was also getting the “Oops something went wrong…” and NOTHING worked. I tried clearing cache etc from the Settings on my Google Pixel Fold (not even 2 years old) and that did nothing.
HOWEVER, even though it looks exactly the same (I mean, it basically takes you to your phone’s own Settings or whatever), clearing the cache AND storage, then rebooting my phone, and then I could login just fine (following normal SMS first, then it asked me to setup my Authenticator, and had me login to the app again, and now everything is 100%).
So, try this:
1.Make sure you have SMS setup in your account via a web browser or whatever
2.Install the App
3.Open the App
4.Login however you normally do and auth with SMS
5.As it’s trying to login (and just spinning), tap the “Connecting…” or whatever at the top (sorry don’t remember exactly what it says)
6.Tap Settings (all the way at the bottom)
7.Tap Device Settings
8.Tap Storage and Cache
9.Tap Clear Cache, then when that’s done, Clear Storage. Agree to the warning.
10.Restart phone
11.Login to App with SMS again
12.Should walk you through the rest.
PEACE!

After I changed my phone and detached the authenticator via SMS, I couldn’t enable it again. Every time I try to enable the authenticator, I get the message ‘Hmm… Something went wrong.’ I’ve followed every step suggested by others and the Battle.net support page to fix it, but nothing has worked. I even tried resetting my phone, but that didn’t help either.”
Thanks, had the same problem, this works. But the first 6 steps are not necessary, you just need to get into the app settings and delete data.
I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, it didn’t work. Deleting the Battle.net app data fixed.
Ah! Settings and Device Settings! That’s the same place, but for some reason acts different! So frustrating!
Thank you for sharing, this got me working!
If there are any Mobile App Devs that watch the forums, please have the App Info for the Application, and from Inside the app’s Device Settings work the same. Since it’s longer to go through the app, and especially since both methods look the same, I would have never thought to try clearing the Cache through the Device Settings link.
I’m in kind of the same boat here. I had not logged on for ages and when tried the authenticator was not working. Removed it from my account and after several attempts to clear cache and data + uninstall, reboot and reinstall I’m stuck.
On the account page I can enable authenticator again, but it needs the serial and and restore code. If I go into that page on the app the fields for the codes are blank so I can’t enable it.
Going into the app settings → delete data → restarting the phone → login to App with SMS and following the steps from the App afterwards → fixed the bug. Thank you so much, i spent like 2 hours trying to fix it and almost gave up.
Hopefully someone can help. I have never had an authenticator, Tried following these steps and it keeps saying oops, something went wrong [UNKNOWN] I can’t figure anything else out.
I tried all the troubleshooting steps and none of them worked.
My last ditched effort was to totally remove authenticator from my account, so I logged into my battle.net account (it will ask to auth but select the drop down and SMS) > account settings > sercurity > battle.net authenticator > update > detach authenticator.
From there, I activated the authenticator, followed the steps and added it to my new phone. (when you log on to battle.net on mobile, again select SMS for auth)
This should fix the auth on your new device.
For anyone having an issue restoring the authenticator, without having access to the SMS from an already linked phone: if you have the restore code you can use the iPad battle net app to use as an auxiliar authenticator in the meantime. I just tested it myself. Tested on my iPad Mini 6. Maybe you can ask a relative or a friend for one.
Finally! You have earned my eternal thanks. Perhaps you should apply for a job at blizzard, since you managed to find the solution when 12 blizzard slopport experts couldn’t and all claimed they had never heard of the problem before, nor had they heard of the hundreds/thousands of posts online by people with this exact problem.
So, after a little tinkering, the solution is simply to clear the App DATA, not just the Cache.
Time after time after time, blizzard has said to clear the cache, uninstall, reinstall, etc, but never have they said clear storage/data, which is a separate option in settings.
You would think that uninstalling the Appa and reinstalling would clear the App data, but apparently not.
I have been involved in several posts elsewhere such as Reddit with heaps of people searching for a solution to this, and I’m headed back to all those old posts to attach this sollution.
Thank You!
