Hello, for more people to use groups in Battlenet Desktop App please consider these suggestions:
- First of all you need to make it so “Invite Link” (Group settings->Invite Links) to group is only max 1 link for each group. Then remove the option to create invite links. We should only ever have 1 link to each group to invite people to our group like Discord link.
- Permissions in Groups: I think only “Leader” should be able to edit “message of the day” but perhaps be able to select some moderators who can edit it (same as guild master can only edit message of the day in a guild in WoW Classic).
- Merge “Notification” and “Privacy” settings when you click the group name to have all those options in same window instead of 2 separate windows. And please also merge the “bell icon” window with “Notification settings” window to make it easier to find all of these settings as they are now scattered.
- Delete “Suggested” filter from “Group Settings->Members” as nobody knows what that is.
- When you right click a chat channel there is the setting “Who can see this channel?”, please add an option there so you can lock a channel so only leaders can write and all members can only read. This is important when creating “space” channels between actual channels for nicer layout and when you want to add important information for all to read but not be able to write text (it’s possible to lock channels in Discord which all members can read).
- Please make it possible to pin a message in a channel as leader. For instance we want to pin messages with download links of custom maps and giving each map developer a channel of their own. So you have download link at top of channel that is a “pinned message” and you can chat in the channel with the developer.
- “Join voice chat” should be removed for all channels. When you create a new channel you should be able to specificy if it used only as a voice channel where you can’t send text messages. Discord has voice channels where you only voice chat, it should be same in Battlenet groups. It’s bad that all channels in Battlegroup groups are both text and voice channels which is chaotic.
- In “Privacy setting” please delete “Whisper me” option as it should not be possible to whisper someone who is not in your friends list.
- In “Group settings->Members” please split the filter “All” into 3 filters instead: “Members”, “Moderators” and “Leaders”. So it’s easier to overview who is moderator and who is leader and how many there are of each.
- When you are in a group and you view people in list to the right of the channels. When you right click a player you need to make it so the option “Invite to Group…” doesn’t appear in the popup menu as all those players in the list are already in the group

- When you click your group name a drop down menu appears and one option is named “Invite to Group…” however when you hover mouse over the “person with plus icon” button in top right corner of window it says “Add people”. It’s weird that they are not named the same as it’s not consistent. Please just delete one of them preferably the “Invite to Group…” option in the drop down menu when you click the group name. We don’t need this many different buttons to invite people to group.
- Please delete the button “Collapse channel members list”, why would anyone want to hide players, it’s important to be able to see all players and to be able to see who is leader and who is moderator.
- When a leader sends a message in a channel in a group please make the “golden crown icon” appear next to name. Same with moderators, their white/uncolored crown icon should appear next to their name when they send a message so it’s easier to know who is leader and who is moderator.
- When I click “Invite to Group…” in dropdown menu of group name then it opens a window with a list under tab “Direct invite”, please make only friends who are not in the group appear in that list else list becomes unnecessary long to scroll through all friends.
- Leader and moderators in groups should be able to right-click a message sent by a member and be able to move that message to a different chat channel, to make sure messages are sent in the correct chat channel in the group, similar like on a forum when someone posts in the wrong subforum/topic.
- When a new member joins our group we don’t know who joined, no message appears. In Discord you are able to set so a chat channel can automatically display the name of the player that joined in a message. For instance we would like a message to appear in our “Main chat channel” every time a new member joins the group which says “Dani has joined the group.”, “Sam has joined the group.” etc. However make it so those “Welcome messages” don’t cause a notification (disable notifications for those messages specific) since it would be a lot of notificaiton spam else.
- I found something which should not be possible to do. Start Battle.net desktop app and click “Add a Friend” button below your profile picture. There is a list there called “Friends of Friends”, right click any player in the list and click “View Profile”. Then on their profile click the three dots “…” and click “Invite to Group”. I have 5859 in that list. Please make it so when you are on a player’s profile you should hide the option “Invite to Group” if you are not friends with that player.
- When you invite someone to the group what exactly is displayed to the player in the notifications? Does it only show the name of the group and the player that invited you to the group? I think some sort of custom message should be possible to add, like when you invite someone/add someone on LinkedIn you are able to add a message along with the invite. Perhaps make it so the group description is shown in the invite to make it clearer what the group is about.
- In “Group settings→Members→Ban” the “ban reason text” you typed gets cut off from below for letters such as “p” and “g”.
- In “Group settings→Members→Ban” please also display the numeric ID of each BattleTag so you can easier tell who is banned.
