Request: Show local time alongside server time for maintenance and events
I’ve not posted or read the forums, EVER. I would hope this it already an issue, but since playing WOW since 2005 (about 3 months after release) this seems to be a no-brainer to me. Apologies to long time forums users, I assume this has been posted literally hundreds of times.
I appreciate that Battle.net needs to coordinate global events and maintenance windows, but displaying only server-side timestamps creates unnecessary friction for players. As computers can instantly convert between time zones, we shouldn’t need to manually calculate when events will occur in our local time.
Suggestion:
- Keep the server time for transparency
- Add local time conversions next to each timestamp (e.g., “3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM your time)”)
- Alternatively, add a toggle to switch between server/local time
Benefits:
- Reduces confusion about event timing
- Eliminates mental math and potential errors
- Improves user experience for international players
- Brings Battle.net in line with modern web practices
Many other gaming platforms already implement this feature. Given Blizzard’s global player base, this would be a meaningful quality-of-life improvement.
