Request for clarification: Kazakhstan phone numbers rejected

Hello Blizzard Support and Community Team,

I am writing on behalf of multiple players from Kazakhstan who are unable to attach their phone numbers for SMS verification on Battle.net. This problem has been ongoing for a long time, and every player receives the same error regardless of provider or device:

“This phone number cannot be used for SMS notifications.”

What we have tried:
• Different mobile operators: Beeline, Kcell, Tele2, Altel
• Multiple numbers
• Entered in correct international format (+7…)
• Tried without VPN
• Tried different browsers and devices
• Checked that the numbers are active and able to receive international SMS

The result is always the same — Battle.net refuses to accept any Kazakhstan number.

Why we believe this is a regional issue:
• Many reports from Kazakhstan players confirm the same situation
• Blizzard Support has replied to several users stating that “some regions are not supported”
• No explanation has been given regarding why Kazakhstan falls into that category
• No estimated timeline has ever been provided

Why this is a problem:

Without SMS verification, Kazakhstan players cannot:
• enable account security
• use many services
• restore accounts
• meet SMS requirements for certain game modes (e.g., OW2 in the past)

This effectively blocks a full use of Battle.net for an entire region.

What we kindly request:
1. An official statement regarding whether Kazakhstan is intentionally unsupported.
2. Clarification whether this is temporary or permanent.
3. Any information on possible alternative verification methods.
4. If possible, escalation to the technical team responsible for SMS providers.

We hope Blizzard will address this issue, as a significant number of players from Kazakhstan are affected and would like to use Battle.net services properly.

Thank you for your time and attention.
