QoL in Warcraft 1

Please consider giving Warcraft 1 move attack . This is crucial to make it even better and more playable.

yes they need attack move, queue units, auto cast heal, and overall better or more clever ai and pathing. take a leaf out of age of empires remaster and if you’re going to change gameplay like right click and control groups, please add a bit more to complete the experience and fortify it into the future.

You can attack-move by using A+click right? I’m sure you always could.

I would not go nuts adding queueing and auto cast, it would change the game too much. But there’s one QOL I would like to see that Warcraft II has: I want to be able to click a portrait from a multiple selection to select that individual unit.

(Without this, it is too hard to cast spells in battle because you can’t cast spells when more than one unit is selected.)

Just right click an enemy…

I think OP means “attack-move” like where you A-click on the ground in any of Blizzard’s RTS, and your units will move to the target while ending any enemies along the way. As I said, I’m pretty sure you can do that in the original Warcraft 1.

Edit: Yeah I just checked both the DOS and Remastered versions. You can attack-move (A then click ground) and the units will engage enemies along the way. It’s just that their reaction time is so slow that you might actually think it isn’t working. It’s always been this way and I don’t think they should change the core gameplay now.

They already broke the balance in the game by adding the 12 unit selection. Having auto casting heal would make humans way to overpowered

I would just like to see improved pathing in WC1. It’s pretty terrible.

I kinda think it’s part of the charm.

However, Save game feature desperately needs a QoL: auto-name saved games like most modern games do, i.e. auto-assign date, time, map name, race.
Further, rank saved games according to recency. It’s rare to see a game that does not have this. :slight_smile:

Attack move and auto healing, maybe these would change too much core gameplay mechanics of War1, this is part of game balance and maybe it was a deliberate choice.

What do people mean by “attack move”? See my post above… attack move, as I understand the term (A-click the ground, units move to that spot but attack enemies along the way) has been in the game since 1994 and it still is. Why are we debating whether they should add it?

Why do we care about balance for a game that can only be played in single player? The human AI already spams auto-heal like it’s on autocast…

Also in an eventual PVP, both sides gets to use 12 unit selection.
