I, like others have been getting the blzbntagt… error when trying to update for pre-patch. I have tracked the error as kicking in at the same time as a “Registry Key: \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections” is attempted and was able to repeat it. maybe it will help the folks who understand it.
Hey, Zim! Thanks for the details here! Depending on the error, there are a few different known issues.
One of them being the BLZBNTAGT00000840, which for World of WarCraft specifically, ending the WoW Voice Proxy in the Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC).
The other being the BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 or a repair loop. We have confirmed some connection related issues related to this and the http truncate. Usually what should help if connection is causing the issue, which can be confirmed if this happens with other blizzard games, should be to try an alternative connection or if available and legal for you, a VPN connection - while not supported by us it may be another option.
Both of these could be causing the repeated connections causing the errors, but these workarounds should help.
Well, this isn’t very helpful. The game should still work under my old connection setup. Is Blizzard fixing this?
I’m having the same 840 issue and I don’t see WoW Voice Proxy in my task manager. Anything else I can try?
This did nothing to help
Finally after 2 days of trying to update Bnet this fixed my problem - it was the voice proxy. Just stopped it in task manager and Bnet finally updated next try.
