The “Launch” button in the Blizzard Battle.Net Launcher for World of Warcraft Classic Cata and MoP Beta fails to initiate the game launch process.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open Blizzard Battle.Net Launcher.
- Navigate to World of Warcraft in the game list.
- Click on the “Play” button.
Expected Behavior:
After clicking “Play,” the button should change to “Launch,” indicating that the game is initializing. Subsequently, World of Warcraft Classic should start.
Actual Behavior:
After clicking “Play,” the button briefly changes to “Launch” for a few seconds. It then reverts back to “Play,” and the game does not launch. Task Manager shows no increase in CPU usage for Battle.Net during this process, indicating that the launch process is not initializing.
Frequency:
This issue occurs intermittently but has been observed multiple times, especially since the pre-patch update. Previous attempts to resolve it involved using the “Scan and Repair” option in the Blizzard Battle.Net settings, which sometimes resolves the issue temporarily.
Additional Information:
- The issue started occurring around the time of the pre-patch update.
- Restarting the launcher or the computer does not consistently resolve the issue.
- I do not believe the issue is related to my computer’s configuration as simply “waiting overnight and trying again tomorrow” has worked to solve the issue.
Potential Solution Attempts:
- Attempted “Scan and Repair” from Blizzard Battle.Net settings.
- Waiting and attempting to launch again on subsequent days sometimes resolves the issue temporarily.
