I recently purchased something off the Blizzard store. Checked all my billing information on PayPal and my account to insure everything was correct and was charged sales tax because the state my PayPal was linked with wasn’t changed. The only way to fix that is to remove your account and add it. It took 3 advisors to tell me this information. None of them have been helpful and no one seems to have read my replies and taken them seriously. Back to the true issue. This shouldn’t happen. If a card number has changed it gets declined. Heck even if the zipcode changes 1 number it declines. The seller is responsible for the system not the consumer. Claiming the consumer is responsible for making sure everything is correct (which it was as far as I knew). It takes 1 line of code to fix this problem and it seems that the support staff just don’t care. There was nothing they could suggest beyond refunding the game and repurchasing it. Sorry I’m not spending an extra 20 bucks for something that shouldn’t even be an issue in 2025. PayPal users beware if you moved and want to pay proper on your purchase remove and add your account with the new billing info. Save yourself the week long headache I’ve just experienced with this sub par support team. Great games terrible support.
You moved, you didn’t update your info, a system that isnt psychic just did what it’s supposed to, you magically know the exact amount of code to change things, you think the date is relevant, and so blame anything and everything but yourself.
That checks out. Thanks for the critically thought out, rational psa.
I did update, as i checked the info on Paypal and Blizzard before preforming the transaction thanks for the clarification
Read the entire article before assuming things.
Well then if youre correct, you are misunderstanding the normal function of the system. How many others are having this issue? Where’s the flood of reports of all paypal users describing the problem only you seem to be having? Seems its not a blizzard problem. But hey, run to accuse blizzard first despite no one else having your problem.
Understand a process before posting psas that will unnecessarily alarm other paypal uses.
Maybe I am misunderstanding how the linking of an account used to purchase a product wouldn’t be held to similar standards as having a debit or credit card linked to the site itself.
The card information is compared to the banks information on file to confirm that the purchase is valid. I would assume a similar process happens through PayPal but with the extra step of PayPal also verifying the purchase information. With the bank as well.
It makes sense that the transaction was approved from that aspect as all my billing information is correct. Why then if the state I linked my PayPal with is different from the billing information I used did it not decline or even flag?
