Hi there! I’m a new PC user and I am struggling to figure out why Overwatch keeps crashing in Quickplay. I can play any other mode I want perfectly fine, but quickplay crashes after a few minutes. I’m pretty sure all my computer specs meet/surpass the minimum requirements for Overwatch. I have tried lowering my FPS cap and that seemed to help a little bit, but then the windows blue screen would pop up (I have posted to the Windows forum as well). My computer is directly based off my boyfriend’s computer, maybe even a bit better, and his computer runs Overwatch perfectly fine. I have seen another forum with a similar issue, but it did not help my situation. I’ve done what I can with the limited experience I have. Please help!
Hey, BriBeesKnees! With the bluescreen crashes appearing on the system, it’s likely a hardware issue (damaged, faulty, etc) or there’s some sort of windows level driver or kernel issue. This would explain why your boyfriend isn’t running into the problem if their hardware or windows kernel/drivers are functioning normally.
Bluescreen crashes are outside of Blizzard’s technical support because of these reasons. We have this outlined on our bluescreen support article here. You’ll want to continue working with microsoft support or a local technician to look into this issue further.
Hi Caterpapi,
I contacted Windows and did everything they said to do. My game still crashed after playing Quickplay. Turns out I had three instances of Battle.net running in Task Manager. I checked another time and it was running it 5 times. I am assuming that multiple instances of the app running is no bueno and most likely caused my computer to crash. How do I fix this?
Even if there were multiple versions of the Blizzard app running, it wouldn’t be able to cause your computer to crash. The operating system would stop this from happening. In most cases though, the extra Blizzard processes showing up are required processes and not separate copies of the Blizzard app.
If the Blizzard app isn’t running correctly though, you can try a full reinstall of the software:
