Overwatch 2 update/install stuck on initializing

Hi there,
was attempting to update overwatch 2 to the latest patch but it was taking a unusually long time (this had started happening the previous time I had tried to update) so I tried some solutions I read online (including those suggested on this forum) and tested after each one.
In no particular order

deleting the appdata folders for blizzard and battle.net
restarting battle.net
restarting computer
disabling background services
verifying game files
firewall rules

REINSTALLING BATTLE.NET AND OVERWATCH
this is where i’m at now, I deleted all battle.net and overwatch files and reinstalled battle.net. Overwatch won’t even install anymore, it got past some first “initialising” stage but now it says update and will no longer get past initialising or will say “waiting on another update” and prevent me from doing anything at all.

Really baffling how this can occur and I haven’t received a single error message i’ve never had anything quite like it, and yes I’ve tested my internet speed, it is fine. Any information/guidance would be greatly appreciated… I really am lost with this one!

Hi,

It looks as if you have already performed much of the troubleshooting listed in:

The words in blue are links to additional information and/or procedures.

Have you tried to temporarily uninstall (or de-activate) any security program you have ?

If nothing work, I think you should contact Blizzard Support directly with a ticket ; alternatively, you can also post on the Overwatch Technical Support forum but I didn’t see any similar cases to yours when I checked just now.

Why do I have to fight the battelnet app to install every update? I’m really tired of this.
