Hello everyone, i want to share my experience.
My mobile carrier was COSMOTE, with that carrier i added and verified my phone number and then added an authenticator to my BattleNet account. Everything was fine i was normally receiving SMS.
After a while i switched carrier from COSMOTE to VODAFONE and then i was no longer able to receive SMS from BattleNet on the same number. I am able to receive 2FA SMS codes from all other services like Google, Amazon, Banks, Yahoo so on and so forth, it’s only that i don’t receive any SMS from Blizzard/BattleNet.
I called Vodafone and they told me that everything is fine with the network and that its an issue of the sender.
My phone broke and i upgraded to a new device, i contacted support and they were kind enough to remove the authenticator. I logged in and i removed the telephone number since its not receiving any SMS. Now when i try to add an Authenticator it’s asking me to add a phone number. I add the number and guess what, it’s not getting a verification SMS!!! Which means i cant add the authenticator!!!
INSANE!
First of all, why i cant add google authenticator, BitWarden or 1Password and i am forced to use an authenticator of yours which i must add a phone number that you FAIL to make it work???
I did a lookup online and i can see that people with Vodafone carrier do not receive SMS. When will this be fixed? My account is now unprotected because Blizzard, a billion dollar company is stuck at 1999 using SMS authentication methods and dont let their customers use Google Auth or Passkeys…
