My games keep uninstalling themselves

This is a repost but these new forums came up as i posted about the issue reoccurring.

Also just to clarify, the games were completely missing from my hard drive again, not just not located by the launcher.

Hey there Tuck,

The app itself does not have a way to remove games unless selecting “uninstall” from the options menu. If the game folders are being removed from the hard drive, this is likely related to third party software on the computer.

Common examples are back-up and restore software, as well as security software. Please check for any of these programs and ensure the games are being installed to a folder that is not backed up / synced and that the antivirus is set to exclude the games from scanning.

For information on how to configure security software or back-up software, please refer to the software developer or consider temporarily uninstalling them as a test measure.

I hope this info helps. Let us know if this works for you.

So, I have been having this same issue periodically throughout the 2019 year, roughly. Launch Battlenet, games missing (reinstalling) or needs locating or “update”. Now as far as I know, I don’t have any software that would be fumbling with my files like that; and if that were the case, wouldn’t that effect my non-blizzard content as well? No, it doesn’t! None of my other games from Steam or any other application go missing. This is a Blizzard app specific problem.

  1. My SSD’s are healthy and new so that can’t be it.

  2. Whatever suspected third-party culprit is not doing this to my non-blizzard content (i.e. backup or antivirus software).

Customer Support- Although it may seem unlikely, this is a Blizzard specific problem. There’s something going on with this app that is causing this isolated issue. Please investigate it as such.

Just wanted to add:

If you have the games installed in the Battle.net folder (same folder as the Battle.net app) and specifically in any of the Battle.net version folders (example Battle.net.11266) those folders will be periodically deleted as the Battle.net app updates.

You can check where the games are installed in the Battle.net app by clicking on the Blizzard icon in the top left, going to Settings, then Game Install/Update. If any of the game folder locations are pointing to a Battle.net.XXXXX folder you’d want to move the game folder out and point the app to the new location.

This may be one reason for a game “uninstalling” itself mysteriously.

Sorry for not reply earlier, I’ve had more important things to focus on.

In response to Nicole, there is no other drives which i will be installing this to as i only have my SSD and HDD with my SSD only being a boot drive mainly with no games installed. I also have run test on my drives and they appear to be fine and in perfect working condition.

As for Kaldraydis, the game folder does not uninstall itself for me, only the contents within, furthermore, i do not have any backup or restore software installed or anything of similar function.

And for Jambrix, my games get installed on my HDD, with my SSD having battle net itself. My games are installed to their own folder labbled game on my HDD.

Hey Tuck,

This should definitely not be happening, and based on the reply I’d like to get a phone call set up so we can further assist you. Please put in a support request so we can work with you more directly on setting up that phone call.

Thank you thank you, you saved me a lot of time, kissy kiss <3
