Multiplayer needs to be improved

Multiplayer is lacking very important key features that a remaster version of a game released in 2024 should have:

  • Implement a replay option to see replays so people can improve and learn the game better. Replay function is key for players to get better at the game
  • Implement hotkeys customization
  • WC2R needs some ladder system to encourage competitive, wc2 is a competitive game, so adding a ladder or rank system would encourage people to play multiplayer
  • Paladin unit on humans needs to be tuned to be as good as mage ogres.

These are just some features that I’m adding to the ones people already are giving as feedback. I hope Blizz can make wc2 great again. I really love this game.

Paladins are the equivalent of Death Knights, Mages and Ogre Mages are counterparts… I would like a ladder as well but WC2 is way more niche than WC3. Hotkeys are more personal preference, I don’t mind using the first letter of most units and buildings to create them quickly but I’m used to it from playing a lot back in the day.

There is a reason why people pick orc 80% of the times in multiplayer. If your point of view was correct, then human faction wouldn’t be so under represented

That is literally how the game is set up. Grunt = Footman, Axe Thrower = Archer, Dragon = Gryphon. So on and so forth, it’s about how you use the units at your disposal for the faction you are playing. As long as you know the counters to the units and the equivalent for the other side you’re golden. It’s not WC3, the game isn’t nearly as complex as other RTS either that is what makes the game great. It’s a good introduction to the genre and very casual friendly other than the scenario ai which is very prone to cheating like skipping tech tiers for example. If you know the mechanics of the game and the spawn points you can cheese the ai by going overcap with proper use of hotkeys and rushing otherwise you’re going to have an extremely long match or a very quick defeat. Playing online is a different story because you’re going up against players that know these tactics and have a build order memorized from back in the day. The only thing Ogre Magi have over the human equivalent is bloodlust and it’s not an overwhelming advantage if you actually know what you’re doing. Play the game and have fun, learn the strategies and counter play. Good micro and repositioning is key, hope this helps.

It was an imbalance, idk why u try to defend it. Paladins need to get their heal mechanic reworked or chage values. That is something Blizzard should try to balance. It was never intended to get orc vs orc matches 80% of the times because 1 unit (ogre mage) is overperforming its counterpart (paladin).

I play human most of the time, bloodlust doesn’t scare me because I know I can set up a blizzard then slow the units and pick them off with Rangers or Gryphons. Paladins don’t need a change to heal it is powerful enough, the only change I would make is a larger radius for holy vision because the mana cost is too much for the small area it reveals. Eye of Krilogg can scout the entire map, holy vision prevents me from using heal for a while due to the cost so I don’t use it, I would opt to make a flying machine over casting holy vision any day of the week and that prevents me from using those resources on better units or upgrades. The only time I would even consider using holy vision is in a 1v1 with two static spawns just to get info before mounting an assault. Don’t want to go in and lose my entire force potentially due to lack of info. Edited to fix a mixup with a spell name (they do the same thing anyway just one game later) and misspelling of Krilogg.

Just because it doesn’t scare you, doesn’t mean it’s not Imbalanced. Again… there is a reason why orc is usually picked. Wc2r needs small balances. Thats it.

War2 Remastered should have a ladder system like Starcraft Remastered, or at least like War2 Bnet Edition.

War1 should… have at least a multiplayer like the original one. (better would be Internet Multiplayer, and even more, a ladder)

Well, I’m not a pro and I know most of the units from both factions has the same stats to counterparts but as far as I know humans has better mages? Yes, Ogre Mages are much bettern than Paladins however Human Mage is stronger than Death Knight. It requires more micro but it has invisibility and all, so the humans generally requires more micro than orcs but they also have something umm… “in their kit”. Prove me if im wrong.

Coil > fireball
Dk has 3 range, mage only 2
Haste and slow are equally useful
Blizz stronger than d&d
Invis is very strong.

So yes mages come out a little ahead in upgrades but are worse before.

Lust is so much stronger.
Eye of killrogg is better than far sight

So ideally there should be some adjustments to all 4 units.

If both factions played exactly the same the game would be boring. Oh and my mistake with the name on holy vision, shows how much I actually use the spell lol.

We arent requesting to play the same, we are requesting to balance it.

It is balanced, I’ll say it again, just because you don’t know the matchup doesn’t mean it’s imbalanced. Stick with orc if that is what you like but the moment you run into a human player that actually knows the game you’ll see exactly what I’m saying. I’m waiting for them to fix the real issues with multiplayer before hopping into games. No allies tab or color selection is a big hinderance.

No. It is not balanced. But u know what? Easy, someone make a poll and ask about balancing paladins with ogre magi. Pretty sure most of the community will agree to balance because orc is picked 80% of the times bc of blood lust.

A good player will always defeat a less skilled player, but on equal footing, orcs win.
