When using WASD to move/strafe in Overwatch, I end up holding these keys and, at times, depressing multiple keys at the same time for a variety of actions (activating specials while moving, etc.). I’ve found that if I hold certain keys for too long, the game recognizes as if they key is “stuck”. For example, I will start strafing and can’t stop in a certain direction.
My resolution so far has been to release and depress the same button in order to break the lock, however this can be extremely distracting and cause losses due to unforeseen button. Can anyone help? Thanks!
Hey there Nightstalker,
What type of keyboard are we using? If it’s a fancy gaming keyboard, be sure to try checking for software/firmware updates to ensure it’s running smoothly. Disabling the sticky keys feature in Windows might also be a good idea depending on what keys you use to play.
Hope the info helps. Looking forward to hearing from you!
I’m using a Corsair mechanical keyboard, but it is basic USB with no firmware. I’ve noticed this problem before on my other machines as well. It almost feels as if it is a setting, either in game or with Windows perhaps. Does it make a difference if I’m playing in Windowed Mode or not?
I’m having the same problem. I have this problem since I buy the game and sometimes it’s impossible to play.
Do you experiment packet loss or any other network issue?
no, no packet loss or network issues. all other firmware is up to date. Sticky keys have been disabled too.
I just tried to run Overwatch in all 3 modes (windowed, windowed full screen, and full screen) and it doesn’t make a difference.
Sucks because with a fast twitch game like Overwatch, this kills the gameplay at critical moments.
Hey again,
Thanks for following up with us on this one. My next suggestion would be to eliminate background apps as a possible cause. Make sure anything and everything that’s not a part of either Windows or Overwatch is disabled while gaming, even if you think it isn’t related to the problem.
This is a temporary test measure for verification, not a permanent change. So I do recommend hitting literally every running program the first time. If it works, re-enable them one by one to verify the cause.
If it’s still not working after that I’d open a support ticket. Link them to this forum thread so they know what you’ve been over already.
Have you tried any other FPS games? Does the same problem happen there?
Do you have access to a different keyboard? It’s worth a shot just to rule out a problem with the original keyboard and/or the drivers.
Other than that, as Kaldraydis suggested, it may be a software problem of some kind.
I’ve tried many other keyboards and in different games and I only have this problem on Overwatch. Also i have all my software up to date
I found a solution
