Interface? Issues

I’ve been having a issue with the client for the last month or so on my laptop when using the battle net client. Instead of having news posts or the small section telling me about who was playing the game I was looking at, I would get a string of code instead. Its just a giant block of code of what is meant to be there, game updates, spotlights, etc.

This has now got to the point that it seems to include the play/update/install button, and I can no longer open anything. Going into my files and trying to open a game manually takes me to the battle net client and it does nothing.

I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall. I’ve opened and close the client. I’ve turned hardware acceleration off then restarted client and turned it back on and restarted client.

I’ve opted into the beta client which seems to fix the problem, however I would prefer to use the standard client. Is there a fix to this or am I just going to need to get use to the beta client?

Hey there,

The desktop app works similar to a web browser. If any contents is being distorted or changed, it’s likely related to other software on the computer interacting with the app in a bad way.

The most common software interaction that causes similar problems are security related programs. Any security software that is not part of the normal operating system should be temporarily uninstalled to help rule it out as a possible cause. Keep in mind that disabling security software will never fully disable it, so a full uninstall is a recommended temporary test measure.

I have also seen “connection optimization” software cause issues like this. Anything that advertises “game boosting” or similar should be disabled temporarily.

I do hope the info helps. Let us know how things go!
