With new import codes coming, there is going to be a lot of sharing of codes in discord and other places.
Is there somewhere we can throw a housing import code at, and get a return of 1 or 0 (active or inactive)?
Specifically thinking of a discord bot that auto prunes threads of deleted import codes. Otherwise it will be a crappy PLAYER experience getting your hopes up you found an awesome build to import, only to import in game and it doesn’t work.
Basically I throw a code to some battle dot net validator and it returns yes or no. This needs to be external to the game itself so we can keep discords, reddit threads, forums, etc not cluttered with non working codes.
Thanks all for your time-
Yup. Echoing a need for such an API so we can validate the blueprints on the WoWDB Housing Hub as well.
they removed the housing api and you want more of it now i dont think this would ever happen because then they would have to return all codes and people would revolt again
Hey there, I would still love something to help with this.
For example, as a moderator I’d love to be able to run a daily check against the blueprint codes in r/WoWHousing to see if any are invalid, and then remove those posts.
When codes stop working suddenly players have a negative experience. Not all code-makers come back to their threads to tell people the code is no longer valid.
This also happens in Discord, people share codes, but they don’t come back to update them when they take the code down.
It would be amazing if the API could just respond with true or false for a given code?
Better yet, false returns null, and valid returns a date. (The expiration date) then I could only check ones I don’t know the date for, OR the ones expiring in 1 day to see if they have been extended by the maker?
Again, this is a frustrating pain point in Housing - you get a code you are excited about, you paste it in and… it doesn’t work. I’m hoping to quell that negative experience for my community.

I don’t quite understand what you mean here.
You think people will just pound the API fishing for codes? With the long string that they are, I wonder what the valid rate would be just guessing? I wouldn’t imagine much? Either way, easily combated with a limit on API check frequency like the Auction House.
