Friends List not loading.....again

It’s happening again on the latest Bnet update: 2.51.0.17296. When the friends list is undocked from the main Battle.net Desktop app window it continues to try and load and never does. Even if uninstalled and reinstalled.

Came here to re-report this again as well. Same issue. Friends list will not load when it is undocked after updating to the most recent update (2.51.0.17296).

Do you guys ever test the launcher before you insist on shovelling it to us? Same thing again? Swirly swirly when detached. Sad times! :’’’(

Right? If you read this Blizzard, let me know when you’re hiring a remote QA Tester. I have experience and would love the job. Sounds like you’re not testing all the ways people use the app and deploying untested updates.

But seriously, hope this is addressed soon and I would love a job if you ever consider remote hires.

Just throwing my hat in here, too. Same issue for me, latest version killed it again. Thanks!

Same… did we forget to do regression testing? I guess I should’ve mentioned something when, after it was fixed, I noticed it was still broken in the beta version of the bnet app…

Hey there,

That sounds really frustrating! It seems like the Battle.net friends list bug is popping up again after the latest update. A few things you can try that might help resolve the issue:

  1. Clear the Cache: Try clearing the Battle.net cache manually. Go to the Battle.net folder (usually in C:\ProgramData\Battle.net), and delete everything inside the cache folder. This can sometimes help fix issues related to loading the friends list.

  2. Run as Administrator: Right-click on the Battle.net app and select Run as Administrator. Sometimes permission issues can cause problems with certain features.

  3. Check Your Internet Connection: It might sound obvious, but make sure your connection is stable. Try restarting your router or switching to a wired connection if possible.

  4. Update Windows: Make sure your Windows 11 is fully updated, as some updates (especially with the newer builds) can fix compatibility issues with certain apps.

  5. Try in Windowed Mode: If you haven’t already, try keeping the friends list in the main window rather than undocking it. That may bypass the issue temporarily.

If none of this works, it might be worth reporting it directly to Blizzard Support with all the details. Sometimes these bugs can be tricky to fix without specific info from the system logs. Hopefully, the issue gets resolved soon! Let me know if any of these suggestions help.

Also a thread here about it.

Extremely frustrating that this is still happening, wtf.

Still not working, doesn’t work on stable or beta releases.

Blizzard, for the love of all that is holy. Proofread your work, or, here, undock the friends list before you push these updates. The lack of respect for your customers is blatant here.

A third update today (2.51.2.17350), and still no fix for this issue.

Why are we being ignored?

I’m a heavy user of the un-docked friends list and I am so damn sick of this bugging out every 2 months, being fixed then bugging out again. How can a bug like this exist for years on end (seriously years, search it) and consistently go through this stupid iteration every update. SORT IT OUT BLIZZARD! I’m SICK TO DEATH of this issue!

Yup same boat after the latest update. How many years must we wait for a real fix?!

After updating to 2.51.3.17359, it appears to have been resolved (for now). Yay!
