Forever Initializing wow update

Once past initializing, download is 30-60mb/s but the initializing, 90 minutes into a 375mb initializing, at 298mb… My internet speedtest is at a 340mb/s DL and 100mb/s UL. This happens often with wow… Diablo updates, classic wow updates, OW updates, no issues, only on wow.

I also keep having this issue every so often - only on WoW updates. It’s clearly a Battle.net problem since it never happens on Steam or other platforms. Just wish they would fix their, apparently crappy, download servers already…

I had this issue quite some time ago - Check who you’re getting your DNS from.

Using an alternative nameserver and/or hostname configuration resulted in regular hitching to resolve update requests for various applications. I did everything I say below, try using the automatic DNS configuration settings temporarily.

Reconfiguring your LAN/WLAN settings and running the command ‘ipconfig /flushdns’ might resolve the issue. I’d run the command while disconnected and connected. I believe ‘steam’ forces you to use their own DNS nameserver for their download client and the infrastructure of their app’s I/O is very aggressive.

At the time I also repaired my operating system. Depending on your setup you may want to do the same. For windows the DISM scan, check and restorehealth trio and SFC /scannow did wonders as-well. Note that this was several years ago but your issue is identical.

Please take care in managing your system’s settings. I haven’t had this issue since - even on several computers that were broken out-of-box. Both laptop, desktop. (LAN/Wifi).
