Still working on this issue. I tried to use the scan and repair option. Now I am stuck in a loop. I cannot hit the “play” button because it doesn’t say “play” - it says “update”. I start update, it scans my files and in the end says error occured and goes back to start

I have exactly the same problem. I tried scan and repair, then check for updates even tried reinstalling the game, but problem still remains the same…

So this exact issue happened back in like May with the new season at the time. I scanned and repaired / updated for 3 days.
1st - this solution to Run as an Admin on Battlenet (not JUST the Warzone executable) did get the loop to stop for me. So I suggest it.
2nd - Most importantly because it took me over a month to resolve last time - I had to add battlenet and all of the modernwarfare executables to the Allow list in my antivirus protection.
Today I scanned, repaired / updated, uninstalled, reinstalled, added it back to my antivirus and now am currently launching the way this thread suggested. It IS launching, but it’s looking for an update at the main screen at this time.
I suggest you check your antivirus and under advanced properties give permission to the game.
