I had no issues 6 days ago logging into WoW yet today I cannot access the home or games tab only the store tab on the launcher. I get the following message: Battle.net Update Agent went to sleep. Attempting to wake it up… More help: BLZBNTBNA00000005
I have restarted my PC, shut my PC off, restarted our router, scanned for games including pointing the launcher to the WoW & Blizzard folders, tried launching from the game icon which takes me to the lobby however no chars are there I just have an incorrect version message.
I even uninstalled/reinstalled the Blizz launcher app multiple times (including clearing all associated folders) which was recommended to try to resolve this rare issue. Under advanced I turned off last played bar as well as the browser hardware acceleration. My drivers are up to date, Blizz launcher is on my VPN bypass list & I’ve tried turning the VPN off.
My husband is on the same network & has ZERO issues accessing his Blizz launcher & any games on there. I’d really love help to resolve this issue so I can play with him & my Guildies
Thank you for taking the time to report this error with these details! I moved your post to a new thread since that old thread had been inactive for some time.
You’ve already ruled out a number of things, and since the error isn’t occurring on a different computer using the same network, the culprit is likely something specific to your system. Antivirus or firewall software could be a factor here if the software is out-of-date or configured to mistakenly identify the update agent as a security threat. Updating or temporarily uninstalling your security software can help resolve this.
Note: Some security programs may be difficult to uninstall. ESET maintains a comprehensive list of common antivirus uninstallation tools on their website.
If you don’t have antivirus or firewall software installed – or if updating/uninstalling it doesn’t fix the problem – many potential problems related to your installation of Windows can be resolved by creating a new administrator account, logging into it, and trying the game there.
If the game only works consistently on the new admin account, this could indicate damaged or missing Windows system files or an issue with how the old user account is configured. This is somewhat common, and the easiest fix is to move any user-specific files that you wish to keep from the old user account to the new admin account. You can also work with Microsoft’s Support to troubleshoot the problem with the old account if preferred.
Hopefully, one of these solutions does the trick. Let us know if you have any questions going forward. Cheers!
