Diablo II Increased Disconnect Issues

It appears that there is an issue with disconnects occurring more frequently when switching between characters. I’ve spoken to other players who have been experiencing this as well. I’ve only noticed this begun happening in somewhat recent times (less than a year). It’s definitely something that was not happening with such ease in the past. It would be appreciated if someone could look into fixing it. Thank you.

Yes this is becoming a huge problem for D2 LOD players. The rapid actions ban perimeters are way to tight. I just logged in to a character and switched to a mule once to look at something and was banned from one action - super ridiculous. I already created a support ticket and was basically told I have to “slow down”. I don’t know how much slower I can go??? To me it looks like Blizzard wants legacy Diablo 2 players to quit - because that’s what’s starting to happen. I have purchased a lot of Blizzard products but I always go back to Diablo 2 LOD. I feel like I am being run out of town with this new rapid action protocol. Not to mention what a pain it is now … to keep all of my mules from expiring. Heck I can’t even play the game because every time I sit down to play within 5 mins or less I am getting temp banned!!!
:triumph:

I remain hopeful for now that the issue will be addressed at some point. I know that a ladder reset is likely to happen soon so maybe there will be some maintenance done. The only way to get these types of issues addressed is for players to be vocal about it. Most players just encounter a problem and stay silent because they feel like nothing will ever be done. Instead, players should make threads, post in ones like this, and open tickets.

First off I am surprised that I don’t see more people posting about the rapid movement restriction problem in D2.
Secondly here we are a few weeks later and the problem is not getting better it’s getting worse!? I logged on and joined a diablo/baal run which lasted a few minutes. After the game was over I went to switch characters one time and mule something and got a temp ban right off the bat!! Ridiculous!

It’s quite frustrating that there is basically no way of bringing issues like this to the attention of anyone who would be able to fix the problem, or at least relay the message to someone who can. This forum very rarely receives posts from anyone from Blizzard, which demonstrates a lack of care. I know the game is old, but it’s still a game that they sell and should be maintained and kept in proper working order.

I believe the reason more people don’t post about the issue is because some don’t even know this forum exists and the ones who do feel like it’s pointless to bother. It seems ridiculous that there is quite literally no way for a player/customer to get any support for a product made by a company with the resources of Blizzard. I tried opening a ticket about the character name creation bug a few weeks ago. I got a very generic reply that made it extremely evident that the person responding doesn’t even know what Diablo 2 is let alone is someone with the knowledge to actually help.

Oh yeah, this is another bug I’ve been meaning to report, but I thought the name creation bug was more important to bring up first. Basically, it worked fine for about two days into the new ladder, then the problem came back right away: if you don’t wait around 5–10 seconds between each action you do when entering Battle.net (like joining a channel or creating a game), it will kick you off with a “connection lost” and give you a realm down for 5 minutes. It’s really frustrating — I don’t know what kind of potato servers they’re running now, but it definitely needs to be fixed.

On top of that, there’s the account registration bug: the registration link is always broken when you create a new account. So if I forget the password for any recent account I’ve made, I literally can’t get support or reset it. Right now, it’s impossible to register any account or even change the email on an already registered one. The in-game command /set-email doesn’t work — it sends a broken Blizzard link when you try to open it — and the option to register the account during creation sends the same kind of broken link.

Probably tons of unregistered accounts are out there now, since yes, you can actually skip entering an email address when making a new D2 LoD account; it doesn’t force you to set one. This really needs to be addressed.

Edit: Just want to add that I also tried contacting tech support about both the name bug and the registration link issue. Despite specifying in every message that I was talking about Diablo II Legacy, they kept assuming I meant Diablo II Resurrected. In the end, they said they couldn’t do anything for D2 Legacy because the actions they can take are very limited, and it seems to be a server-wide issue that needs to be discussed here.

So I don’t know what kind of response you received, @Harrogath-1180, but if we can’t get help through tech support and are forced to report it here, I really hope they’ll have the decency to address bugs that affect the entire server.
