Diablo 4 won't launch

I’m posting this here because it’s getting absolutely no official acknowledgement or attention by support staff on the Diablo 4 forums (which, judging by the number of Blizzard and MVP responses over there, there isn’t any staff there) and only gets generic, copy and paste responses in support tickets that give no real help for the matter. Maybe it will be different here, and I’m desperate. Ever since the 1.4.2 patch went live over a week ago now, Diablo 4 will not launch for myself and many other people. Several threads have been posted, several people have put in tickets. Some have even tweeted at Blizzard CS. All have gotten nothing.

The root cause is clearly the game itself having been messed up, causing some error with the ntdll system file. The subsequent two patches haven’t helped the matter at all. Nothing we have tried to fix the issue has worked, except for a couple of people trying random stuff that only worked for them. There’s still a lot of us that are without a solution and feel abandoned by Blizzard staff on this. Any actual help (or even acknowledgement that there’s a problem) here would be greatly appreciated. We’ve already been cheated out of most of the anniversary event. It would be nice to get this fixed soon so we can at least claim our cosmetics before it’s too late.

All of the technical support forums are player-help-player areas.

I am going to chime in and also support the OP in that I cannot launch the game either, even after update V1.4.3.54876.
My play button is greyed out and the game refuses to launch and hovering the message gives me “You can’t play Diablo IV yet.”
I have been able to play fine up until the more recent updates for the new season, previously I have been able to play without getting kicked from the game, 60fps as I play and no other technical issues so it’s got nothing to do with hardware issues.
Hey Blizzard, I paid money for the game and in game purchases - what gives?

Didn’t used to be that way. And it seems pretty useless if no players know what to do and the ticket responses give you nothing useful either. Honestly, at this point, I would take just confirmation that the devs are aware of the problem, even if the fix is sometime down the line. The silence is like torture. Also, there have been official Blizzard responses on other tech support forums recently, so yeah.

If the problem has to be fixed by a patch or something, how would you suggest we make the devs aware of the problem, since obviously the normal ways of trying to get help for this stuff are seemingly dead ends?

The primary purpose has always been the same, but there was a lot of staff involvement in the past. That seems to have subsided.

I didn’t say they would never respond.

Either way, you definitely want to post about D4 issues in the D4 forum, not the Bnet one. They are completely separate teams working on separate pieces of software.

At this point since I’m not seeing anything from anyone that has spoken for Blizzard on these forums, I’m for spamming the problems in every forum until it’s acknowledged that there’s a problem. At this point the lack of engagement just tells me that they don’t care and if I can’t play my game because of their screw up I want my money back.
They’ve used obfuscation trying to blame it on hardware issues to various people for various reasons and it’s a load of bull sheet. It’s their software update that has fornicated various games in their charge over a barrel - it’s time they realized people are pissed.

Indeed. And that is pretty sad. Also seems their formerly very helpful Gamemasters have been replaced (probably with all the layoffs a few years back) by outsourced customer support people that don’t even come close to having the proper knowledge to actually help. Kind of disappointing that they still keep up the pretense of it being otherwise. It’s deceptive.
