Can you guys please at least put a big disclaimer on the store page for D2/D2LOD? Right now 99% of the people who see that screen won’t understand that the game is not actually compatible with the current version of OSX. Saying “10.10 (latest)” is misleading at best, and scammy at worst. As it stands, you do not support the current version of OSX, and it is very important your product page reflects this.
+1 for a warning message: “Does not work on macOS Catalina 10.15.x”. People here have been asking, begging and/or demanding for something simple as that. It ain’t rocket science and ignoring this communicates a very bad message to faithful customers. Kind regards, Patrick
Any updates? Can not run, forced to use Parallel Desktop, but it works very bad and very slow
If you don’t want bootcamp, D2 also works like a charm with Parallels as it has proper GPU support not as bad as VirtualBox and works out of the box unless other stuff like Crossover.
Just to clarify, Parallels works like a charm with a Windows guest VM, as it has proper GPU support there, but not with a macOS VM.
I have placed a feature request with Parallels to add GPU support to macOS guests. If anyone is interested in upvoting it, please do so here:

I just bought the game because of this screen and now I can’t play it. This is so misleading
Relax, folks. At least Blizzard IS actively working on updating Diablo 2 to 64 bit. It’s not a fast process; it took a couple of years for the StarCraft remaster, and when you throw in the added headaches from COVID-19 (they’re dealing with proprietary code, so they probably can’t risk having much work-at-home programming), it’s going to take longer than we want. Realistically, the fault is NOT with Blizzard, but rather with Apple for not having made 32 bit backwards compatibility available as a system add-on (it’s their OS, they have the ability and the staffing to do it). If you want to see publishers that are NOT responsive to their Mac customer base, look at the companies who sell through Steam. Some are working hard at building and maintaining their growing Mac player base, while others are simply saying, “It’s too much trouble to update to 64 bit just for Macs.” Blizzard has LONG been a strong supporter of the Mac gaming community, and their experience with StarCraft’s remaster was what prompted them to remaster WarCraft 3; the work on WC 3 was probably foundational to help them figure out what to do in updating D2, but there are a LOT of individual hexes of background scenery that need to be digitally remapped (FAR more than was the case for SC).
So, now that it needs updating, not just for a new OS but for a whole new processor architecture, what are the chances it’ll ever happen?
Probably extremely unlikely,
I’m waiting myself for them to “port” the game over to 64 bit…
But honestly the way they are going about it and updating us it seems like it won’t happen.
If it was actually going to happen they would be more involved with updating us with news and progress,
Really don’t see it happening tbh.
It’s more like a post once a blue moon from them telling us they “haven’t forgotten”, aswell as that they did have a post way back about refunds, so yeah.
Proof is in the puddin.
and if they did reply to your question,
They would avoid the question altogether, won’t tell you how long, and would say it takes time and they haven’t forgotten and their team is working hard on it .
Sooo yeah. It’s a No from them.
There actually IS one. In the “System Requirements” section for Mac, the last item is “view details.” If you click on that link, it gives the complete system details for both PC and Mac, and states, specifically, " Note : As a 32-bit application, Diablo II will not run on any systems running Mac® OS X 10.15 (Catalina) or later."
10EURO waste, damn. I just upgraded my wife’s MacBook to 10.15 to play Company of heroes 2. But have to downgrade it again for Diablo 2. Think i better go back to my Playstation again. I miss my Acer pc with windows from 14 years old.
Your first issue is that it is a MAC…
ZaxxoN83,
If the purchase was recent you may request a refund through support.
As for the Catalina issue itself, this is something that is still on our radar. No updates currently.
Just adding to this post. I could make it work with Bootcamp on Windows but recently had my Windows partition corrupted and lost all my progress.
That’s the reason we want a Mac version. Super good OS that is not buggy like Windows. Also not having to reboot on other partition or use a VM or what not. Let’s cross fingers and hope that something will be done soon.
Thanks to @Drakuloth for keeping us posted. Maybe you’ll have to grab a MAC and rebuild it yourself for us if we want it to get done before 2030
Is it possible copy the game record on mac to bootcamp and continuous?
Hi,
Is there any update here? I would like to play D2 but I really cannot space to create another partition to use a other version of MacOS.
What is the real thinking of Blizzard about this?
Are you really thinking to fix this problem or just trying to wind people as much as you can? If the thinking of Blizzard is that this problem will not be fixed, you should tell us. If the answer is “this problem will not be fixed”, there will be any possibility to we have any discount when D4 will be launched?
If anyone knows more about the position of Blizzard about all of this compatibility thing please let us know, it’s weird that they haven’t talked about it publicly though… this is such a classic game, they should stop any effort to remaster this thing and just add support to 64 asap
Hi, I buy diablo 2 before the compatibility advice I can’t play and need help thx.
Simply adding my voice here, not that Blizzard seems to be doing anything about it since Oct 2019, it’s now halfway through 2020, fix your downloads, or remove Mac compatibility, since y’know, it’s not compatible for Mac.
Same issue here, and I just bought the game, the downloader is not prepared for Mac OS Catalina , os there a solution for it? Very upset with this
