Diablo 2 LoD installation

I have done the full installation of Diablo 2 and am trying to install the expansion, I follow directions insert the Play Disc it installs to 53% then says ‘Please insert the CD labeled “Diablo II - Lord of Destruction Disc 1.”’ After replacing the disc it the computer thinks for a moment then the same message pops up, again and again. Anyone able to help me out with this?

The original disks may just be too old for the system to use, perhaps damaged/degraded. Bliz provides digital downloads available here. These are already patched up to almost the current patch.

Something to watch out for though. If want to play on Battleney, you must play from a non-business class IP (residential IPs only), and you cannot use a VPN.

I downloaded the installer, said it had a problem with a file, so I downloaded the Diablo 2 installer and uninstalled my current installation. Then attempting to install from the installer it asked for a 26 character cd key, I have a 16 character cd key. What’s the deal with that?

Go here:
https://account.battle.net/overview
Enter the 16 digit keys for both Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction one at a time into the “Redeem a Code” field, then click the Redeem Code button. This will bind both the Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction codes to your Blizzard account and convert them to 26 digit keys.

Afterwards, go here and scroll down to “Classic games”:
https://account.battle.net/games
You will see 26 alpha numeric codes for both Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction. Copy and paste these keys into the installer when prompted.
Note: It may take a few minutes for them to show up on your account after redeeming the codes. If you still don’t see anything show up after an hour, try clearing your browser cache.

You’ll need to copy/paste the above links into your browser. I lost the ability to post clickable links. :frowning:

great that almost helped. I’ve had this cd key for years and never redeemed it, I don’t have other accounts to check, but it says my cd key has already been redeemed, so, now what?

Unfortunately there are a lot of old keys that were compromised by the hacking community so they didn’t have to pay for new keys. The algorithm for the 16 digit keys was either cracked, or are easily brute-force guessed with todays powerful computers. It’s one of the reasons they upgraded to 26 alpha numeric keys.

I recommend starting a support ticket:

I agree with DarkJedi.

Sometimes support can help if the website won’t accept a game key. Also, be sure do both your D2 and LoD keys.
