Listen ive been dealing with this all day. I just bought this game today with the hopes to play with my buddy who also bought the games. hes able to connect fine. I installed the game and entered my codes for both Diablo 2 and LOD which worked because i purchased the game off the blizzard site. I tried to connect to battle.net and i get “Battle net is not responding. please try connecting again in a few minutes.” ive done research on this and i keep reading temp bans for vpn’s up to 2 weeks. I do not use or have any vpns installed on my computer so i know 120% i haven’t done anything to be punished. Im on windows 10. Can i please get some help on this or any clarification to what is going on. I’d love a respond back from a blizzard moderator.

I have been trying to connect after trying to use my old battle chest discs and keys and buying the games agian and using those keys to connect to battle.net i can’t either and have tried everything under the4 sun to get this to work blizzard needs to do something to help people with this. Personally would rather play this then D3 myself.

This error occurs when the connection to Battle.net is restricted. Checking users in this thread it appears temporary restrictions were placed. The most common reason is using a cloud-based connection such as a VPN or business class Internet Service Provider(ISP). We provide more insight into our Battle.net rules Here and in the sticky post at top of these forums. Actions last between 2 weeks and 30 days. We do not provide at exact dates or times when the action will lift.

so because i have a faster internet connection i’m being punished? so in 30 days ill just be banned again for my internet being faster? This company is going downhill. i get its a 20 year old game but to charge me 20 dollars for a game roughly around 5 dollars and ban me because of my internet is better. outrageous, unethical, and just poor customer service… I could of easily pirated the game and just played on a private server which now seems to be my only option. Thanks for robbing 20 dollars from me. These customer supports are bots and post the same word for word statement. Thanks blizzard, thanks china. I didn’t know i liked getting fuked.
I keep getting this same problem too, they’re basically forcing you to not play their own game. It’s horrible.
Bought 2 complete sets of cd keys, cant connet to bnet? what the hell… I dont even want a refund, just fix the game… why cant i loggin blizz?
Same issue here. But for me, I was able to log in for like 2 weeks and now all the sudden cannot. This is pretty ridiculous.
I bought the game a week ago, played every day until today, and this morning it keeps pushing me out when I swap characters and saying : “Checking versions” for 5 min and then “BattleNet not responding”. If I wait for 15-20 min, it lets me log in again. But eventually it kicks me off again after I change 2-3 characters. Everyone has mules and chars in Norm and NM. Not sure if the swaps are causing it, but seems like it.
Any help would be great!
I had this problem too, I played for two weeks and now it says cannot find Battlenet try again in a few minutes why. This is absurd. What is happening I try support and have even uninstalled and reinstalled as asked but to no avail. What is Blizzard doing about this?
Same, this is like the worst case of stockholm syndrome ever. Blizzard treats us like sh!t, hasn’t released a single product worth a damn in over a decade and continue to be, and I mean this literally. NAZlS about their good games and products, I cant wait till yall finally get bought out or go under, and I used to swear by you guys.
Pretty said that they do not even show Diablo 2 on there game sheet anymore, and it was the best game they had for over fifteen years. Diablo 3 is not as good in comparison.

I had this exact issue for several days. I would either see ‘Checking versions’ for like a minute and then it would tell me “Battle.net is not responding. Please try again in a few minutes” or it would immediately say “You were disconnected from Battle.net. Please reconnect.” I have 2 full, legit copies of D2 and LOD (2x CDKeys for both, both registered on Battle.net). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times on 2 different computers but nothing worked.
Last night I was FINALLY able to connect and the only thing different I did was I deleted the desktop and start menu shortcuts, after a fresh install, that were created during installation and used the ‘Game.exe’ application directly from the Program Files (x86)\Diablo II folder to run the game. I tried multiple times on both of my computers and it worked every time.
I hope this maybe helps someone else having this issue or at least gives you something else to try because Blizzard didn’t even respond to my ticket I created so they obviously aren’t helping…
I’m having the same issues as everyone above me, I just bought both games and CD Keys and I get the, “You were disconnected from Battle.net. Please reconnect.” I even tried the solution that worked, I have relocated and downloaded three times already since I purchased this last night. Please give some feedback… I’ve been playing this game for over 10 years and I’d like to continue…
I just bought this game tonight and I am having this same issue as well. I even tried the above fix that was mentioned. Two friends I am playing with are able to get on no problem but I am not able to get on at all.
