I keep crashing to desktop with the error message:
“read error of file ‘trainer’ (0x00000002)” (or numbers to that effect) when i try and load the game.
It occurs at the same point every time when it transitions from the ‘recap’ intro into actually loading the first level. I haven’t been able to start the game at all.
Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve rechecked the files, turned off pre-loading shaders and restarted in safe mode, but the problem persists.
I’m going to try uninstalling and re-downloading next, but if that fails i think i’m stuck and will be forced to seek a refund.
Mine is doing the exact same thing at the exact same point, but I’m getting “read error imagefile4” and the same error code. I’ve tried the same troubleshooting steps you have, and still nothing. Pretty disappointing.

I’m getting the same error but with a file called ‘imagefile2’. Even tried loading the level in safe mode just in case, but nothing.
Same here I pre-loaded it. I am on Windows 10 2004 with a GTX 1070 and 8700k.
I am redownloading right now.
Is useless re download or repair the game, just dont works, i tried. Im sick of the Activision support, never answer my emails and have a lot of problems with other games since weeks ago. And the worst, is imposible get a refund, im VERY DISSAPOINTED with this trash game service. First the money and the user at last…

This is a game client error rather than a problem with the installer. We at bBlizzard just work on installation/patching here. You want to contact activision for help with this. They’ll have better ideas for what may cause problems with their game client.
