Hi.
First of all, this is the FIRST time I have created a profile on Battle.net and I have never played games online. Ages ago, I bought Diablo 2 and Diablo 2 LoD, I played countless times, but always offline.
Today, I wanted to play for the first time online, but as much as I try to reinstall, disable my firewall and other solutions that I saw here on the forum, I can’t get the game to work because the warning appears that my CD key is currently in use. If I never played online, imagine then sharing my CD key with someone … I never did that.
My CD keys for the basic and LoD versions are 16 digits.
I’m a really, really newbie for online games, so, I don’t know what is going on. Please, help.
Hi there,
You’ll need to redeem your old 16 character keys for both Diablo 2 and LoD in order to bind them to your Blizzard account and convert them to the new 26 character keys. Then you’ll need to install the digital download version of both Diablo 2 and the Lord of Destruction expansion.
To redeem/convert your old keys and bind them to your Blizzard account:
From this forum, click your profile name on the upper right, Account settings. Enter the 16 digit key in the “Redeem a code” field. Do this for both your Diablo 2 and LoD keys.
To obtain the new keys:
To get the 26 digit key, click your profile name, Account settings, Games and Subscriptions (left side), scroll down under “Classic Games”, you should see a 26 alphanumeric code to the right of “Diablo II” and another if you also added “Lord of Destruction”. These are the keys you need to copy and paste into each installer.
To download and install the game:
You’ll need to go to the same area where your 26 character keys are located. To the right of the key, you’ll see a download link for both Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction. Download both of them, install Diablo 2 first, input the new key when prompted, then you’re done. Do the same for LoD.
Note: You may get some weird HTML errors while the downloader is running, also the download will probably go slowly. Ignore the HTML errors.
I’m just going to go ahead and throw out a warning about VPN usage since a lot of people trying to play Diablo 2 get hammered with a temp ban because of them. If you do use a VPN, make absolutely sure that it’s turned off before attempting to play on Battle.net. Also some business class ISP’s can get you restricted.
Hi!
Oh, I not use any VNP, I even don’t know how to use it, to be honest. I’m a little older, haha. But I’m from Brazil. Is there any problem about it? But thanks for your reply, I’ll try what you suggested me. Hope this works.
Baracal,
If this doesn’t work, our support team will need your CD key to help you figure out what’s going on with it, but you should not post it on the forums. If you still need help, please contact our support team for assistance.
