Hello there,
i’m french player and posting here coz european Blizzard support can’t give me a human answer (random copy/paste FAQ answer).
So i can’t update, uninstall or reinstall the battle.net luncher.
What i have already try:
- delete all bnet files on my comp (install folder, appdata, user etc)
- delete all key in regedit found with “battle.net”
- make all windows update and nvidia update
- create new windows admin user
- check rights on bnet exe installer and run as admin
- make a DSN windows renew
- repair windows NVM
- adwcleaner scan
- ccleaner regedit clean
- change my bnet language code in regedit key from frFR to enUS (also deleted key and bnet installer ask to choose a language at first run)
- disabled windows virus protection (no other software)
- disabled windows firewall
- try with home fiber 1Gb connection and also a 4G connection
- try to change location with a VPN to germany, england and US
When i run the bnet installer, it freez at 45% and i’ve already try with all languages.
The only thing i can do is unzipping a backup installed version of my bnet (2.29.0) and run it but it can’t recognize my games nor install or update games and don’t update the luncher itself.
I’m totally stuck without any solution…
Thank you for your help
Config : windows 10, 16x4.2Ghz, 16Go RAM, 2 x 1To SSD M2, nvidia rtx 4060
Same. Getting errorcode “BLZBNTAGT00000841” Blizzard needs to fix this asap!!!

oh wow, thats a nice summary of how broken it is lol. I used Geek uninstaller and Everything to get rid of every single trace of blizzard/ battle net to do as clean install as possible but to still get the 45% stuck message.
It seems to be happening to a lot of people and its completely unsable in its current state.
hmm can you go into the ProgramData folder for battle.net and check the Logs folder under the Agent dot some four digit number (Battle dot net/Agent/Agent.8868/Logs) and check the ‘Agent-something.txt’
I see always this:
Checking Network Connection status to http //eu patch battle net:1119/agent
Network Connection Response to http //eu patch battle net:1119/agent - CURL error: 0, Status Code: 404
…

}

“error”: 2221
}

So two things seem to be going on. It can’t connect to a EU server (im in the EU) to get whatever patch it needs and as an emergency fix it tries to use the US server.
So what to me seems to happen is the installator is attempting to connect to the US server to patch buuuut it gets this error 2221 (‘The user name could not be found.’) and gets stuck in trying to do it again and again.
I hope the devs are watching these threads and are aware of these problems.
Hello SuperMage
that’s a good point of start to check the logs. I found them and i can see many errors in it but i dont really know if the problem comes from my computer, the installer or the blizzard servers.
This is an extract of the firsts lines of the logs:
Agent-xxxxxxxxxx.log : localefrFR but in the request it’s US and the files .build.info don’t exists in both folders.

About Geek unsinstaller, i can’t use it coz i have already mannualy deleted all files and clean the regedit so the battle.net app has desapeared from the windows program unsintaller and so for Geek unsinstaller. Becoz i cant reinstall it, i cant unsinstall it from geek
Thank you for the reply , yeah I think we see the same issue , in my case it attempts to connect to the EU servers and fails. In the curl log file it seems like its trying to connect multiple times and after ten times it gives you in addition this message:
[W 2024-09-30 04:42:53.0361] CurlError 35 from "https://eu.version.battle.net/v2/summary" with message "schannel: next InitializeSecurityContext failed: Unknown error (0x80092013) - The revocation function was unable to check revocation because the revocation server was offline.
You can use Everything to see if they are any additional Battle.net or Blizzard related files remaining. But yeah I think those are not the issues.
I’m thinking the issue is with their installer communicating with their servers but I’m just speculating at this point.
I wonder if they broke something during a release and are understaffed and can’t get it fixed.
I get the same type of output (I don’t have any issues with BNet)…

@DecaPeter: A question for you…
Your BNet App seems to be installed under c:\Jeux
– have you tried to install it in its default location… under C:/Program Files (x86)/Battle.net/
.
yeah… mine is like that too… the LOG files uses UTC, not local time.
Hmm… all of a sudden it works. I was able to install battle net and it even reads my starcraft game!
From what I see it seems now they have this:
[I 2024-10-03 13:08:48.0288] Executing operation: emergency_fix_com_flags ClsId=***** AppIdFlags = 0
and now it works.
I haven’t turned off anything or done anything new, i just ran the installer as normal today.

Man I hate it when it does that !!
Gratz for the fix and best of luck in your games !!
P.S. : I just checked my Log folder and there’s a new Agent-2024xxxxx.log file… and, in it, I have (the green highlighting is mine):
Response 200 (0.0380 ms): {}

@SuperMage you are very lucky
I also ran the installer and like you, i didnt change anything and battlenet has updated automaticaly! It has also updated overwatch and hots (it doesnt want for hearthstone and SC2). But i’m still on enUS parameter in regedit for bnet.
But after all updates checked, bnet replace the “play” button by a “install” one. So i still can’t run my games after few seconds… Maybe need to wait few more days with lot of luck
But if i’m fast enough i can clic on “PLAY” before it change and i can run a game… I need to close and open bnet many time before seeing “play” coz it’s totaly random. WTF is doing blizzard?!
I’ve moved the folder in program files before running the installer. Maybe it was the problem? i dont want try to move it back to check it lol
But if it was this, thanks so much for the tip, i still stuck but a bit less
Hmm can you click on the gear icon and try to locate the game installation. Maybe that can do it?
For me the battle.net app did an automatic scan and found the location of the game installation.
