The game began to give errors when trying to install Heroes of the storm latest patch saying that I was not an administrator which is ridiculous because I have been doing it for years.
I deleted absolutely everything to start from scratch, I even uninstalled the battle.net agent, deleted the Program Data, user\local folders, etc. Used CCleaner through the registry but I always have the same problem, I can’t install the game. The Install button keeps loading and get’s stucked there. I even tried installing Starcraft 2 and it does start the installation.
I don’t know what else to do, the next step would be to format the pc, which I am not going to.
Please help.
Hey there Cronos,
Thank you for taking the time to report this here with those details! We are aware of the issue that is prompting your to log in as an administrator when attempting to update Heroes of the Storm, but that issue should not prevent you from reinstalling the game from scratch. It isn’t uncommon for registry editing software such as CCleaner to cause deeper issues with the registry, and it’s possible that the attempted fix you’ve tried with CCleaner is preventing the game from reinstalling. This is even more likely if you’re able to start installations for other games.
To fix this, try creating a new administrator account, logging into it, and trying the installation there.
If the installation succeeds on the new admin account, this could indicate damaged or missing system files or an issue with how the old user account is configured. This is somewhat common, and the easiest fix is to move any user-specific files that you wish to keep from the old user account to the new admin account.
Hopefully, this gets the installation back up and running. Let us know how it goes!
Same here, facing exactly the same problem. Started with the lateste patch, where the batlenet client gave a error message it couldnt read a directrory. Wanted to start from scratch, too. Even set up the OS new (what implicates a new administrator account), no change.
That didn’t work, what else can I try?
Besides I use CCleaner as a last resource, I’ve tried reinstalling the game several times before using it.
Now it went back to the original issue “We couldn’t access a folder. This is usually becaus you’re not logged in as an administrator”
Hey there!
Thanks for giving that a try. After some more digging, it appears that this could actually stem from the same issue affecting Heroes of the Storm updates. Try the steps outlined in the post below:
I did, I’m getting this error An error ocurred while appyling secrity information to:
C:\user\xxxx\documentos\Heroes of the Storm
Faild to enumerate objetcts in the container. Access is denied.
/edit: Problem solved, I have to delete the folder under user\documents\heroes of the storm. access denied was by passed using Unlocker app
Deleting the hots folder fixed the problem
good fix Cronos! thanks alot, you fixed it while blizzard send an automated reply not helping sh*t
