I play diablo 4 on PS5 with a disk, after the update, I found that I can’t buy the new DLC, it seems that I need to buy digital version D4 before.

This really sucks. Why should we have to buy the game a second time? If they don’t fix this. I’ll stop playing completely.

Is your physical copy from the same region as your PSN account? it has to be for the DLC to work.

Like most expansions, the 1st expansion for D4 requires that you have the base game first. It will not work otherwise so they don’t sell it to people who don’t have the base game.
If you have the base game digitally registered to your account for a specific platform, you can buy the Expansion for that platform. If not, you are going to have to either wait and hope they change it, or get the digital version key for your console account.
Also keep in mind, the different platforms are all sold separately, so those of us with it on PC would have to buy both to play on Console and vice versa.

I also have this issue. I even tried to purchase the dlc through the game but it says I need to own the game, the same game that is running whilst I try to purchase
