Cannot Install Games?

Here’s the rundown:

Moved across the country and when my computer, a fresh Windows 10 build, was finally set up, I find that I cannot install a single game from BattleNet. I’ll open the app, select World of Warcraft, and hit install … Only for the process window to remain blank, minus the blue, swirling buffering symbol in the bottom right corner. This will sit there for approximately five to ten minutes before loading.

Moving on, I’ll designate the correct installation path, as it has set, and click Install. When I do? The “Play” button will remain dark, as it should, but just beneath it will appear the word “Waiting…” and it will continue to sit there until the process inevitably fails, resulting in a classic Blizzard Update Agent failure, error code BLZBNTBTS0000005C.

Now, I’m decent enough when it comes to anything related to IT, so I sat down to get to work and tried … Everything. I’ve exhausted every possible option I could find. Firewalls? Off. Antivirus? Off. Background apps? Off. Caches? Cleared. Reinstall? Sure. ANOTHER Windows 10 fresh install? Why the hell not. Admin accounts? Tried. Blizzard Support has, unsurprisingly, been absolutely useless, telling me to fix the files that I CANNOT DOWNLOAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. Thus, they’ve left me with the option to contact the forums or a “third party tech specialist from your area” for any more help, and then immediately closed my support ticket.

This is beyond frustrating. I’ve even tried to install the game to separate PCs within my home network. Network firewalls were off with absolutely ZERO security holding anything back, but the exact same issue will arise across any PC used.

Just to note: whenenver I open Battle.net and proceed to close out the program, two instances will continue to run in the Task Manager: Battlenet and Battlenet Update Agent. I have to force close them every single time I use anything Battlenet related, so at this point? I’m left to assume that SOMETHING is wrong with my network or SOMETHING is wrong with the Update Agent.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I really don’t want to stop playing some of my favorite games because their creators don’t have a proper support network.

Can you post your DxDiag and MSInfo to Pastebin.com? Preferably separate links.

Highlight the link and click </> to be able to post it.

I had the same issue. I have deleted the Battle.net app, now I can’t even install the app xD. It’s stuck at 90ish %.

Ok install finished after like 30min. But now I cant install any game. Its download speed is like few kbps, I checked my speed and there’s no issue.

Honestly? Happy to know I’m AT THE VERY LEAST not alone in this issue. Hopefully we can get it figured out soon!

Both of these links contain the DxDiag. Can you share the MSInfo?

Here’s a Pastes io of the MSInfo since Pastebin’s human-checker apparently thinks I’m some form of artificial intelligence and “times out” as soon as I pass their checker.

Beep boop :robot:

I forgot to ask (since this has come up recently on the WoW forum): Are you using the Windows Insider program? Any version of Windows marked as an insider version isn’t officially compatible with Bnet or any Blizzard games, since they are experimental.

I … Don’t believe so? I’ve never actually heard of the Insider program before. I did a quick search through the registry and the HD, but don’t see a trace of any an “Insider” program running.

When I Googled your build number it came up as a Windows Insider version.

In the files:
The amount of errors from Discipl2.exe are overwhelming when looking through the logs. I definitely think something is wrong with that install.

Beyond that, you have errors from the AcPowerNotification.exe, which I guess is an ASUS utility. There are also errors from the Network Connection Broker (NcbService.exe) which could be blocking installs. The log also has a lot of Windows system errors pertaining to the directories that are only used for installing a new version.

What I think you should do is:

  • Run a repair on your Windows installation.
  • Use Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all GPU files and reinstall the GPU driver.
  • Review the many apps and services appearing in the error reporting at the end of the MSInfo. Reinstall or remove what you can.

Thank you for everything you’re doing to help. I’m going to tackle several of the issues tomorrow when I have the time, but I’d like to pose this question for you:

I tried to install the game across three different PCs. My own has Windows 10, whilst the other two are a Windows 7 and the last a Windows 11 build. If it was doing the exact same installation errors on those other PCs along with my own, common denominator suggests it’s a network issue? Is there anything you know of that could cause this? (Mind you, I did disable the firewalls before attempting an install of Bnet and the games.)

Did you try plugging any of the computers directly into the modem, bypassing the router?
