Each time I try to add or use a payment method I get an error stating there was an “internal error” and to try again later. I’ve tried again later and it still persist.

Im getting the samething. I also tried buying a character change and it wouldn’t process due to the “internal error”.
It’s been 2 days, do they not want to make money?
