Can login to website but not Battle.net App

I can’t login to the app, just get this error: BLZBNTBGS80000011

Every IP address I can find through searching is whitelisted and accessible. If I choose the Continue Offline mode it can connect and download WoW. I just can’t get past the login to actually play.

I’ve tried everything I can think of and everything recommended. I will admit networking isn’t my thing so I am not really sure how to even tell where it is getting hung up as the only IP addresses I can find for servers are whitelisted and returning pings.

Hey there Raythen! Thank you for reaching out, as it can understandably be frustrating to have a technical issue occur when simply trying to enjoy your gaming time. This is a bit of a generic connection error, and can have a few causes ranging from corrupted local files to a network-related problem. Try the following to narrow this down further:

  1. Try a DNS Flush to clear out any corrupted or stagnate data.
  2. Fully update or temporarily uninstall security programs which may be interfering with your connection to the server(s). More information on troubleshooting security applications here, if curious.
  3. Test an alternate network such as a mobile hotspot to determine whether the problem is isolated to your current network.

If you’re still unable to connect, please run a WinMTR network test so that we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:

  1. Download the tool from this page
  2. In the “Host” field, enter “us.actual.battle.net” (without quotes).
  3. Start the test and launch the Battle.net Desktop App. Ensure the error occurs while the winMTR tool is running.
  4. After recording data for about 5 minutes, click “export text” and save the winMTR file in an easy to find location.
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the winMTR. It’ll look like this:

I am also having the same problem, but my error code is BLZBNTBNA00000A8D(1138)

I cant even get the battle.net app to login just does a swirling thing. ever since they added call of flipping duty nothing but issues with battle net!

Any follow up after I posted the results you asked for?

Hey there Raythen,

Thanks so much for taking the time to follow-up with that WinMTR! I am sorry for the delay here, as forum coverage was a bit spotty during the holidays and it appears that the thread was buried along the way. I appreciate you bringing this back to our attention!

The WinMTR test that you posted shows that you have a strong, stable connection to your home network, however, much of the data outside of the home network is missing due to that “Destination network unreachable” error. That said, the test does not show any conclusive evidence as to why you’ve been unable to connect.

With that in mind, were you ever able to temporarily test an alternate network such as a mobile hotspot or VPN? This will help quickly determine whether the issue is isolated to your current network.

If you can connect when using an alternate network, at that point we can be sure that the issue is isolated to the primary network. In these situations, ultimately we can only recommend contacting the Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance determining what is causing the issue to occur on that specific network. They might need to adjust network-level security/firewall settings or temporarily replace the network devices in your home to narrow it down further. I always recommend requesting to be forwarded to a “level 2 or level 3 technician” when contacting the ISP since the front-line representatives typically only have access to basic diagnostics and troubleshooting tools.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions going forward.

Thank you for getting back to me. I can say with certainty it is the network (alternatives work). I am a teacher and this is happening on our school network.

We have used WoW and other games as well often over the years as different tools in our classes here and I have support of our administration in using it. I have worked with our IT team and they have unblocked everything that I can find to tell them to unblock as far as IP addresses go and ports to allow. I just don’t know enough about networking to have any idea what else to suggest as far as getting it back up and running. While our IT team is more than willing to help me when I bring solutions to try to them, they don’t have the time to find the solutions with everything else they are taking care of in our district.

Hey Raythen!

I appreciate that additional information, as it certainly helps to understand the situation with your school network. We don’t officially support school networks when playing Blizzard games, as these network types oftentimes use large-scale enterprise firewall solutions to protect the network, and in many cases the restrictions or configurations associated with enterprise firewalls causes issues connecting or using specific services (such as voice chat). While troubleshooting network-level firewalls is considered out of the scope of our support, the culprit is likely related to a network-level configuration that requires a bit of finessing to isolate.

While I am sorry that I don’t have a more direct solution, I do hope that this information gets you on the right track!
