This completely worked for me.
This fixed it for me!
Did you verify if your CPU handles AVX (avx-1-2 can be turned on in bios if its available)… it wasnt the case for me went in a wild goose chase with all remedy possible like you. Turns out pc just not compatible. to bad so sad! A shame after spending 80$. there is not a mentioned of it in their requirement list… you would have to search steam forums to find the answer … welp either pc upgrage or hassle them to make it truly cross-platform compatbile game. Activision is the only answer!
The issue you’re describing with Call of Duty: Warzone requiring AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) instructions and not supporting older CPUs that max out at SSE4.2 is a known problem. With the B06 update, it appears that Warzone has dropped support for older processors that lack AVX capabilities.
Why This Happened
Game developers often update their software to leverage newer hardware features for better performance or to streamline development. AVX allows for more efficient processing in certain computational tasks, which could improve the game’s performance or allow new features to be implemented. However, this comes at the cost of excluding older CPUs.
Will Activision Address This?
Activision has not officially announced plans to address this specific issue. Historically, large game publishers tend to focus on supporting newer hardware and may not prioritize backward compatibility with older CPUs. However, they may release a patch or workaround if enough players raise concerns.
What You Can Do
- Contact Activision Support: Open a ticket with Activision Support to report the issue. If enough users do this, they might consider a fix.
- Activision Support
- Check Community Forums: Stay active in forums like Reddit, Steam Discussions, or Activision’s official forums to track updates and find potential workarounds.
- Upgrade Hardware: If feasible, consider upgrading to a CPU that supports AVX. This might not be ideal, but it’s a long-term solution if you plan to play modern games.
- Monitor Updates: Occasionally, game developers backtrack on changes that exclude a significant portion of the player base. Keep an eye on patch notes for any developments.
- Look for Modding Solutions: Sometimes, community developers create patches or mods to bypass such issues, though these solutions might not be official or supported by Activision.
Community Backlash and Pressure
If a large enough portion of the community is affected and voices their concerns, there’s a chance Activision could release a patch to restore compatibility. However, this is uncertain and depends on how widespread the problem is among the player base.
