First of all, thanks for all the great times i’ve had with Blizzard Games.
Second, you need to fix the patch/update for Call of Duty: MW. I’ve tested alot tonight and found out the following.
I live in Europe, choosing region Europe gives me a downloadspeed of staggering 0. It does not work.
Choosing Americas as region gives me a speed of 1-4 B/Sec. I would say that is not working.
Using a VPN through USA AND choosing Americas and I get a somewhat respectable speed 1/5 of my ISPs speed. I would say that is “working”, but I bet this is not the intendable way it should work.
So, is there somewhere I can send the VPN invoice? (Joke, but come on, fix it. I’m using all my VPN ratio on large game updates!)

Hey there, it’s me again.
The guy who had 25 MB/s fpr like half an hour (almost).
After hours of nothing/nada/nichts I am back at an average of 100 kb/s.
Do you guys plan on communicating anything on this +inserexplotiveofyourchooosing+ anytime?
When i paid for this game (2 DAYS AGO!) i was really looking forward to play it.
Now, with 83 FREAKING Gigabyte to go, i might as well just get a refund.
And yeah, i could go for all the VPN solutions here to make it a little faster, but honestly, why do i pay 45 Euros for this to go through all that sh+t.

Mine is at around 10 MB/s now . I have been using a vpn the whole Day andre stayed at around 3-5 MB/s with That. Turned it off just now and getting 10 MB on Americas (i live in norway) the problem i that i have 105 gb’s left because i have to download the whole game over again because after the 15 GB update my game would not even launch. Unbelivable. I am going to go to bed now but i dont trust blizzard launcher to stay at 10 MB/s Through the night so im gonna have to stick with 3-5 gb’s with the VPN. Hopefully if my game is finished tomorrow, it Will actually launch, if not, im getting my moneys back
Edit: it went back down to 14 kb/s just now so guess im switching back to VPN

Yup, I did what you told, and I get 10-20 mbps. Americas server and US vpn server. Let’s see how long it lasts though.
i did the same with a trial version of a vpn, downloadded everything and starcraft 2 with 19-20 gb, i posted my solution here, try the new york server for the vpn

This its the most ridiculous probem fix ever.I was Blizzard fan till 2006 in Wow.I have played 14 years in this platform.Wow overwatch etc.Blizzard focused in lastyears just about make more money and no prioroty for customers.just to remember… we are the guys whopays your bills…we the players.I purchased MW on pc and i have maked a very bad choice.! milion pc hackers runing around.Good bye Blizzard…i wil turn on my xbox one where i can play safe and dont need to wait ages to download 10gb.
The alternative is to simply leave the download running overnight when it is not peak hours for gaming if at all possible. As the world around you goes to sleep, the CDN bandwidth throttles are being lifted, resulting in better download speeds.
You know if i leth the pc ruing 13 hours it wil cost some energy …energy cost money?Its ridiculous.
It’s clear that the Media Distribution Servers are throttling downloads.
And I respect that. You are trying to save bandwidth in times of Coronavirus: health, education, public services, etc. all need bandwidth width higher priority.
But Steam has no throttling? Well it should too.
I switched to USA via VPN just to test it, and it got
better now. But not full speed though; it went from 1MB/s to 3MB/s (my connection is 6MB/s)
I didn’t need to change anything in BattleNet (Blizzard) settings, just changed country in VPN and bam, suddenly speed ramped up.

This problem is so annoying, that i consider to uninstall the game and cancel my latest purchase. I purchased MW Battlepass season 3 and the full game two days ago. And then i had to download 86GB with new updates to the game. Now it has download for 2 days, and still need 85GB to download. I have fiber network with 500mbit download and 500mbit upload, and on other platforms like steam i get 40-50mbit download, but in this game i only get between 50kbit and 300kbit, i have tried to change region, to change the download limit settings again and again, nothing helps. Speed test is showing full speed, so this problem is a MW server related problem. I’m an IT technician for many years, so i know what i’m doing, but nothing seems to help. If you dont want me to uninstall and ask for a refund of the purchase, please do something about this problem now, thanks.
are you from Europe (physical location)? Then you could try dl/ing BetterNet VPN and connect to USA try and get a better dl speed.
Yes i’m from Europe, i have tried both Asia and America as region. Nothing helps at all…
Blizzard can you tell us your plan to resolve this issue?
Do you know when you will solve this problem? I’ve been downloading 171GB of update at 50KB/S for a week now, and so far I’ve only downloaded just over 20GB
I’am downloading at 200-500KB/s, tried all the settings, servers etc, I pass on the VPN just for one game, for the last 24 hours. I’am reinstalling the full game because my ssd failed, reinstalling in another ssd, really frustrating at this speed 180Gb … To late to pay and play the current season … Just downloaded a game in Steam at 80Mb/s, and 49Gb from Microsoft in minutes.
Blizzard/activision, when will you get your head out of you ‘behind’-hole?
We have paid for a game we can’t play for days, that’s just wrong! you should be ashamed of your self. It would look good on you to publicly acknowledge you have a problem and apoligise with a f-ing proper fix rather than workaround that you know don’t help!
Just bite the bullet and upgrade the EU server cluster - we paid you could too!
I’m downloading with 300 KB/s on a 15 GB update this should be done in a matter of minutes not days!
TL:DR
- Log out from your Battle.net client
- Select Asia region. Log in again
- Switch your game REGION / ACCOUNT to Asia
- Set “Latest update download speed” in “installation and download options” to 100 KB/s.
- Start game download
- Go back to “installation and download options” and change download speed to “0” without pausing download
TL;DR end
So, at the moment switching to Asia server with mentioned above “download speed trick” helped to get some decent speed (~20 MB/s).
Some info about my case:
- im in Europe region
- no VPN
- no problems with my internet speed (1 Gbit/s connection)
- other game download clients (steam, origin) downloading games without any issues
- Battle.net downloading its own games (was tested by downloading Diablo3) without any obvious speed issues. So, software problems with battle.net app is excluded
There are two things that was tested:
- account region (when you log in to Battle.net app) + game REGION / ACCOUNT
- limited and unlimited speed in “installation and download options”
Before (with my usual region+speed settings) my download was eiter stuck or at ~500 ish KB/s speed. Which is totally unreasonable for downloading 180 GB game.
Download speed trick:
- pause download
- set download speed in installation and download options to “100”
- resume download
- go back to installation and download options and set it to “0” without pausing your download
… and i got some download going (maximum was around 20 MB/s). Not sure if this will work out for you. But you can give it a try.

There is obvious problem with Battle.net + Activision CDN network or distribution servers.

Today i am back to 0 B/s. ZERO. Not downloading a single byte since last night.
Even the US - Asia VPN thing doesn’t do shat today.
31 GB still to go.
