Blizzard just straight up told me ''To buy the game again''

I have the base game for Diablo 4 through Xbox app and purchased the expansion on battlenet. I created a ticket in which I explained I have the base game through Xbox and the VoH on battlenet and here is what they told me.

‘’ I understand the concern about accessing the content for Diablo IV and its expansions. Please note that each platform has its own license requirements. This means:

  • You must purchase the base game on every platform where you wish to play.
  • To access expansion content like VoH, it must also be purchased on that same platform. ‘’

So either it was a copy and paste response and they did not actually pay attention to the contents of the ticket since they are going to solve the problem, or they are serious and we have to purchase the base game on battlenet which would be criminal.
I… I don’t know what to say anymore.

Hey Ilcu,

Support is correct.

All the platforms are separate and therefore games must be purchased on the platform that one wishes to play on.

It’s a business decision.

In other words, they don’t care. This scummy as hell though.

Yes, they don’t care anything.
In a similar case, they gave me an answer that was just as implausible but unfortunately we had to accept it.
The issue for me was Diablo 3. I started when it was released on the PC, but then switched after the additional act, the first DLC content, was released. I bought Diablo 3 including DLC as a bundle, in the same battle.net account of course, for the PS3 console. At the time, however, I was able to use the existing progress of the PC version on the console version I was now using without any problems. Now, a few years later, after giving up using the console and returning to my PC roots, my renewed interest in Diablo 3 should be satisfied. I have now owned this game three times, as you can of course buy it again for the PS4. Since new content was released every time I changed systems, the new purchase was also acceptable. Now I only had the basic game Diablo 3 as the PC version and no DLC expansions, which were bought and used on both console versions. In the meantime, the individual expansions could not be purchased individually, only in a bundle. This would have meant having to purchase the basic game a fourth time just to be able to use the expanded content. The extras that were also included, such as banners, EP+ items, etc., could not be accessed again, as they had already been redeemed within the console version. However, these could not be accessed and made available either, as they were redeemed with a different version of the game. So having to pay for content that I already have but can no longer use (no price reduction due to existing content, etc.)
Transferring the existing progress from the first PC version to the PS3, then to the PS4 and back to the PC version was no problem.
In my opinion, these were no less laborious processes that were implemented, but where it could generate money, people turned against it and that was that. Investing money again or turning your back on the game and the company is simply not worth it.
The whole thing is a real shame.
