Battlenet Refusing to Close WoW after 'exiting game'

Well, first and foremost, I’m not intending this to be rude, but I will likely ignore any ‘player feedback’ or ‘MvP’ feedback as you all are not blizzard staff and I’ve already done a wide variety of troubleshooting to get this taken care of. So, while I do appreciate your attempts to help, this is outside of anyone’s ‘expertise’ unless you are a Blizzard employee that works on the Battlenet Desktop Application. Now, on to the heart of the matter here…

Recently, I’ve been having issues with the Battlenet launcher not wanting to fully shut WoW down upon ‘exiting’ the game. It will either continue to ‘run in the background processes’ or ‘Battle.net (32 bit)’ category in the ‘foreground’ and I’m not too sure as to why. But here is the following of what I have already done to try and correct the issue:.

I’ve looked into my Windows security system to see if the firewall or Windows Defender/Malwarebytes could be responsible for the potential holdup, as I know they are likely culprits for causing some applications to misbehave or perform in a subpar manner. I’ve gone through initially uninstalling every single addon to see if that would help, thinking it may have been a custom UI addon that was causing the system to lag behind in terms of a shutdown, and when that failed to work, I physically deleted both Cache/Interface/WTFOlds as well as the new Cache, Interface, and WTF folders. And when THAT failed, I did a complete full uninstall and fresh install of WoW after deleting the leftover program files within my Program Files (86) and then did a full reinstall of WoW after that with zero addon’s running.

And when that failed, I uninstalled WoW and deleted the full Program Files (86) folder, along with proceeding to delete the Battle.net and Battle.net_component’s folders in the “Program Files” part of the system and then doing a clean install of Battle.net and WoW, and it still continues with the problem of showing that WoW is running in both the background process and foreground with Battle.net on my Task Manager. The amusing thing about this being is that I was only recently notified of this happening via Discord, which at that time said, “Playing WoW for 16 hours” after I had gotten home from an MRI appointment, which is impossible given that I went to bed with a virus scan running in the background and was going to log on and continue my Dragonflight catchup after the appointment was over and I got things cleaned up around the house.

So, as one player to potentially another, is there anything you all can do to help me fix this so WoW isn’t running up my memory or causing severe system issues in the future? It’s just odd because when I go to play other games like Guild Wars 2, Final Fantasy XIV, Neverwinter, and Star Wars: The Old Republic, or any single-player games, it doesn’t cause anything like this, and I’m afraid that one day I’m going to be caught slacking and not checking my Task Manager (which is getting to be annoying, by the way, having to constantly have Task Manager overlayed with Discord on a second monitor to see if WoW properly shuts down after exiting and if not, having to click ‘end program’ after searching “Warcraft” in the bar to insure that it’s dead) every time I close WoW down to play another game.

But here in lies the rub too, and what makes this obscenely odd. This issue isn’t a permanent thing; there are times where it’ll shut down in its entirety with no issues in both the foreground and background, but others where it will completely shut down with zero issues, whatever. So, I’m hoping that this lengthy post will give some much-needed information on what I’m going through and that someone from Blizzard can help get this addressed before World Soul Saga comes out, because there’s a strong likelihood I will end up playing both World Soul Saga and Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail at the same time and working on them in tandem, so I definitely don’t want to lose time in the little ‘race’ that me, the family, and close friends do in the ‘race to end game’ like we have since Burning Crusade’s launch.

Also, just to note, as I’m sure someone will likely ask, no, I do not have any other programs (games) running at the same time as WoW, just the typical Spotify/Discord/Internet Browser going at that time.

So, once again, thank you for taking the time to read this, and I do sincerely apologize for refusing to outright take anyone other than a Blizzard employee’s advice into consideration.
