About one or two weeks ago my battlenet randomly disconnects me every time I play a game. At first I thought it only happened with overwatch, but found out it also happens while playing heroes of the storm. The disconnects happen at random times and I have talked to my ISP and they said my connection is fine. I tried every suggested method and nothing worked so far. It seems to be only happening with the battlenet launcher and when I play games, because when I’m in a call with my friends on discord they can still hear me and I can hear them.
Edit: I live in EU

Hey, Blutz! Is the Blizzard Application showing you go offline and online? Do you have any issues if you try switching to a different region on the Blizzard Application? You should still be able to launch the games in EU.
Let’s grab a WinMTR test. Run the test to eu.actual.battle.net
until the problem occurs for 5 to 10 minutes. Copy and paste the text file created and paste it between two ~~~ like so:

If you have issues pasting here, use Pastebin and post the end of the link. (ie. 123456 for pastebin.com/123456
)
Hi Caterpepi. Yes whenever I got disconnected from Overwatch, I open the blizzard app and shows a plug icon top right corner and with a button that says “connect”. I haven’t tried switching region, but I’ll try it out.
Here’s the recent winMTR test that I did after I got disconnected from a match https:// pastebin .com/FYBGgBVE
Thanks, Blutz! Oddly enough, the WinMTR test is only showing the Blizzard server. It’s not showing any of the data for the home network or the route between the home network to the authentication servers. When you were running the test, was there any additional data?
If not, something might be blocking the test from running properly, it may help to try resetting the network devices back to factory default and checking out the windows firewall.
If there was additional data, could you run the test again?
No, that was the only thing data that was there. I already had my windows defender firewall restored to default.
I have a question now though. Do I have to add the blizzard battlenet app and launcher to the “Allow apps to communicate through windows defender firewall” like in this screenshot or does it not matter? https:// i.imgur .com/iRPPlm6.png
I added them there as I’m writing this
Blutz,
You shouldn’t have to add that manually. As long as your windows defender is up to date (which you can update through windows update) it should configure itself correctly unless there’s a bad definition. When that happens we get a TON of reports and that’s not happening right now.
I see. Then I have no idea what could be causing it. I’ve tried every suggestion, but nothing worked. It just started happening out of nowhere.
Hey again Blutz.
We do see packet loss in that test you sent us earlier, but unfortunately we’re missing so much of the test it makes it difficult to identify the cause. Can you test while using a VPN and see how things go? If it disappears while on VPN, we know the problem is between your house and our servers. If it remains while on VPN, it’s more likely somewhere in your house and we can focus our attention there instead. If you disconnect while on VPN, please re-run the winMTR. I have some hopes this may get us a bit more data.
Hey Drakuloth, I’m currently using a VPN to Denmark and I’ve been playing for over an hour and not a single disconnect so far. I did a couple winMTR tests, so I’ll post them here hopefully with the whole data.

Hope this helps solve the problem.
Edit: I got a lag spike and it showed a red plug icon while playing Overwatch, but it only lasted for a second and then it was fine. 2-3 hours of playing, but haven’t disconnected. Here’s the winMTR of the lag spike https:// pastebin .com/VhB2e1gr
The VPN tests look much better since it’s showing all the data here. It’s showing a lot of loss, but that is typical for VPN connections. Thank you for the additional tests, Blutz! With the home network connection not showing the data and the VPN seeming to keep you connected, it does sound like there’s either a protocols or routing issue with the connection.
With most VPNs they are shared, so the latency spike on the VPN was likely just due to too much data or the VPN connection being a bit more unstable due to the traffic.
We generally like to get you up with what you need to contact the ISP, but given that the home connection tests are not showing the data properly, you’ll want to contact them to see if they can run through a few tests on their end and see if there’s any issues with the home network, or the signal/lines of the connection.
Hey Caterpepi. Thanks for looking into it. Is there a reason though why it wouldn’t show me the data when I ran the tests in winMTR without VPN? My ISP is Splius, also known as Telelanas, I’m not sure if that’s relevant or not.
Edit: Quick question. If I switched to for example cloudflare DNS, would that perhaps solve the issue?
Edit 2: Didn’t work unfortunately.
Hi, do this problem have a solution? I’ve been getting disconnected quite a lot too too. (not an internet problem as in the description above). And i too get the plug in the battle.net app.
