Battlenet is blank, no news, no play button

Battle.net app is just blank. I have no news, no button to start the game, social\news\shop tabs also show nothing. I basically only have top tabs and the left bar with all the games listed, besides that - nothing, just greyed-out background. If I click in the middle, I get taken to the shop section but I still can’t see anything.
I already tried logging into another region to disable the ad or whatever is supposed to be there but it’s blank on both my EU and Americas.
I only have native Windows Defender and it shouldn’t be interfering with anything.
Reinstalling and cleaning out the register didn’t fix anything.

UPDATE!
While writing this I tried right-clicking battle.net->WoW from the tray and I now can launch the game at least. Wow page is mostly there, I just have no news\updates\ads there and social, news and shop tabs are still blank as they were
Please help!

Hello there!
I have the exact same problem. No news, no ads, no play button, just the left and top bar. No matter what game i click on, it only shows a greyed-out background. There is an invisible rectangle banner like thing in the middle that is clickable, but it only takes me to the shop which is completely empty again.
I’ve spent the last hour looking at the forums, trying out all the troubleshooting processes in connection with the battle.net app, but nothing helped. At this point i have uninstalled and reinstalled the app 3 times.
The last time i was using the app was 2 days ago on 09. Dec. 2020. It worked flawlessly. I haven’t changed anything on my laptop since that time, so i have no idea what else to try.

hi, TechTonic! I know this is not really a solution but you may at least be able to open your game. have you tried right-clicking battle.net from tray and then selecting your game? my wow page started semi-working miraculously after that. hope it helps at least a little bit

I am having the same problem and I tried right clicking and only have the option of moving them up or down. It last worked on the 9th. I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

I know this sounds stupid but what is tray-?

Also same, it last worked on the 9th, but instead of a grey box, I have just black colored code in the background, which I can see when I highlight it! Its very weird.

Hello!
I actually tried to open Hearthstone from its folder using Total Commander. It started the game, the loading screen was opened and it was trying to connect to a Hearthstone server but then it closed and the battle.net app was automatically opened with the same blank issues. I tried this while i was logged out of the battle.net app, but the same thing happened.
But i think i found a solution. In the battle.net app, inside the settings you can switch to Beta mode. If you click on that option it will download a few files, update and restart the app automatically. Then the app should work flawlessly. At the start there will be a short tutorial but you can just click next every time and it will disappear. Right now I am inside the app, and i can see all the news, adds, play buttons and everything else for all games, even the shop is functioning. I also managed to start hearthstone and it worked without an issue. I hope this will help you as well!

UPDATE!
I also checked the updates on my computer. It says that on the 10th Dec. 2020 Windows 10 was updated to version 20H2. I think this update might be the cause of the issues, because on the 9th the app was working without a problem for me. The next time i was using the app was on the 11th and thats when i saw the problems. Can you please check if your computer had an update recently? #Zaerath #Marionettes #Jamchrank It might help out with finding the real solution for this issue.

Thank you so much! I can at least play it now, that really helped!

Hello everyone,

I understand the Blizzard launcher is showing up blank except for the top bar. If you haven’t already let’s disable browser hardware acceleration and test with the beta client. You can do this by clicking Blizzard in the left hand corner and going to settings. First scroll down in general and disable browser hardware acceleration if checked. Click done and test the launcher, this may require a restart if it doesn’t load right away.

Should it continue being blank go ahead and swap over to the beta client. Go back under settings and in the left hand bar you will see Beta. Swap to it, this will require downloading new files.

Other steps would be to do a full reinstall and make sure to delete the following folders as well before reinstalling:
1. Open file explorer/file manager
2. Type the following into the address bar (not the search bar): %APPDATA%
3. Delete the Bnet and blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with %LOCALAPPDATA% and %TEMP%
5. Empty the recycle bin.

And a new user administrator account on the computer has been known to help kick it into gear. If it launches fine swap back to your main account and test agian.

If these steps do not work for bring back the launcher to it’s full use please submit a ticket to our Tech Support with your system files so they can take a deeper look.

Disabling browser hardware acceleration worked for me. Very informative screen captures submitted by Boubou, cheers.
