Battlenet Desktop app - Stuck in Offline mode - 2.22.0.14235

Hi everyone

Been busily troubleshooting why my desktop app not being able to go online and forces me to go into offline mode after upgrading to battlenet version 2.22.0.14235

TLDR wondering if anyone has encountered this and have found a fix for it as i’m bursting to play D4!

The first error that pops up is BLZBNTBGS80000011

Overview

  • US servers - and based in Australia NSW
  • Windows 10 desktop has a 1080 GPU (Has D3 installed)
  • Windows 11 laptop has a 3070 GPU (Has D4 installed before upgrading Bnet client)
  • Bnet version - 2.22.0.14235
  • Bnet agent - 2.30.7.8279

Troubleshooting
I’ve tried all of the troubleshooting provided by Blizzard on the docs and some from forums including

  • Flushing, releasing and renewing DNS
  • Manually deleting the cache folders via the %programdata, temp, appdata, local data and so forth then reinstalling
  • Optimised network and reset network drivers via router physically, via admin screen, and via windows 10 and 11
  • Enabled secondary login to automatic
  • Made sure firewalls are allowing the app as an exception
  • Disabled all firewalls
  • Used a VPN
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop app
  • Cleaned out my registry
  • Optimised my startup apps and processes ensuring there’s no apps running that may impact the bnet desktop app
  • Updated all my drivers (GPU, Network Drivers, Router firmware)
  • Ruled out ISP issues as friends with same ISP are able to play D4 and have not encountered this issue
  • And many combinations of the abovementioned methods with no success
  • Logged report a bug via the desktop app directly but don’t think that went through given its offline mode
  • Switched between beta and standard of the desktop app
  • Switched regions with the same error

Really stuck here as you can see I’ve extensively tried every method I could find and no success

Steps to repo are:

  • Install battlenet desktop app windows on both my desktop win10 and win11 laptop
  • Install complete and I type in my credentials
  • I am welcomed with the BLZBNTBGS80000011 message
  • I proceed to go into the app via offline mode
  • It locates the games i’ve installed or sometimes i have to manually map them
  • This is where it gets interesting if I select Diablo 3 it allows me to play it as per normal
  • If I goto Diablo 4 which is installed it is blanked out (the play button) and the embedded content does not load and I get this error BLZBNTBGS8000001C
  • The friends and socials side panel does not load and welcomes me with the same error BLZBNTBGS80000011
  • END

Any help is appreciated here I have no option to rollback the Battlenet version to a earlier one as the installer keeps installing via server side through Blizzard

The earlier version was working and that’s how I got D4 installed and its only when Bnet prompted me to update this is when this offline mode and the mentioned problems occurred

Thanks in advance

Hello, having a same exact problem. Just bought the game and I’m stuck in Offline mode. Tried all the fixed mentioned by jinsanity.

Update:

It worked for a few hours last night and I was able to install Diablo 4 on my desktop but as of this morning the same error has come back

I looked into the logs and it displays the below:

Line 390: E 2023-06-19 06:18:45.649723 [BNLogin] {Main} Internal network error: 0 isNetworkError=false
Line 393: E 2023-06-19 06:18:45.734801 [BNLogin] {Main} Login failed. error=ERROR_NETWORK_MODULE_SSL_CERT_CHAIN_VALIDATION_FAILED

Please help Blizzard!

Update - Solved

Hopefully my experience here will help other users experiencing the same issue

Blizzard had suggested for me to uninstall and reinstall my security suite

  • I uninstalled it first
  • Installed Bnet again
  • Was able to login successfully without the above given errors
  • Installed security software again and its been working fine since

Cheers
