Battle.net breached our security with removing PP phones

BattleNet before changes to the phone number policy.

For a long time Battle.net was same as other platforms with their policies about everything and of course the 2FA.
As long as you had an active phone number & phone , you were good to go.
You could link it to your account and protect your account with 2FA on top you could download Authenticator .

 Current BattleNet

Activision keeps failing with anti-cheat and blames people for this.
And keeps punishing us with some random stuff they decide in their round table meeting .
But what they have done to loyal customers of this platform is just insane , but what is most insane - that nobody speaks about this.

Probably this is because this is not happening to Streamers or Whales who would have raised Tweeter/Twitch hell on Activision Blizzard for this. .

By their decision with SMS Protect, they have REMOVED all PP(pre-paid) phone numbers out of any account that had them linked to any account. ( No matter new or old )

So what ? - You might ask.

The problem with this is , that this is a security breach that can lead to potential account hijacking and people personal data leak.

But most disgusting thing is , that Activision Blizzard does not care about this and they ignore all your tickets that touch this topic.

If you break ToS - You are done for.
But if they make critical changes to your account without your consent that is totally fine .

Why this topic is even made? - To raise awareness to people who maybe missed this (who did not try to play OW2 before 10/07/2022

P.S.

- Just Get yourself a phone plan and get over it ! - We all have our difficulties and reasons for not signing a contract . And even if we had to it would not be for a game . Dont forget about parent and their children.

P.S.

Imagine if your bank would have done something like this ?
Battle.net is not a bank but they have a lot of responsibilities before costumers , same as bank. Because they store your CC Number / Phone Number / Name / Address and more .

I really hope that this is going to be resolved in the near future.
Also i am really sorry if some parts or most of it is a hard read , just english is not my native language but i tried to make this post readable and hope that this reaches someone out there and this will not go under the rug.
Have a good day , everyone !

And with all this knowledge public ppl will still support Blizzard. It’s amazing how ppl will back a company set to earn money off of you in sketchy ways, but if their Government does this they riot ROFLMAO humanity is so stupid

Funny how none of this was so problematic before Activision.

Your memory here is faulty.

The Authenticator started as a hardware device that you linked to your account. Setting up SMS Protect with your phone was totally optional. However, it DID require a contract cell phone. VOIP and pre-paid numbers have never been accepted. Flagging is done by the Govt, not Blizzard.

Later, Blizzard moved to the Mobile Authenticator. Again, it could be set up by anyone with a compatible device. SMS Protect was optional, but not required.

About a year ago they started making SMS Protect mandatory to set up the Authenticator. As always, that number used needed to be NOT VOIP or pre-paid.

The change from making the phone number optional to mandatory has impacted people who do not have a qualifying phone number.

They removed nothing. The only way a number is removed from your account is if it was requested by you, or someone with enough ID to convince Blizzard it is you. A lot of people are upset right now because they have old phone numbers on the account and can’t get it removed without sending in ID.

If you EVER had your phone linked to your Bnet account it was flagged as a contract phone accepted by Blizz. They never accepted VOIP or pre-paid and have never removed phone numbers from accounts without customer requests.
