Authenticator login with Firefox is broken

Sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong category, but there does not seem to be a category for the web site as a whole.

Logging in with Firefox is currently not possible. When prompted for the authenticator the browser is simply redirected back to the login form. This appears to be due to the authenticator page trying to load a URL that gives a 404 status.

The URL in question is an icon (for Android?):

/login/static/images/toolkit/themes/bnet-next/meta/android-icon-192x192.png

This is the relative URL as I am not allowed to include the full URL on the forum.

If I block this URL in my browser, i.e. right-click and “Block URL” in the Network tab of the Developer Tools, the login works fine.

I assume there is functionality on the authenticator page to redirect back to the login form if it hits a 404. I did not encounter this issue with any chromium based browsers, as it appears the URL is not accessed there.

My user agent if that is of any relevance: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:124.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/124.0

I’m having the same symptoms on my Firefox 124.0.2 (64-Bit) Windows System as of today. After briefly showing the authenticator request (which also gets pinged to the app and can be approved with no actual result) I get redirected back to the login.

Works in Chromium based browser though.

Updated to 125.0.1
Issue persists

Can confirm same issue over here. Refreshes page back to login before I can approve 2fa request. I only use Firefox browser and didn’t try any other browsers

For me, the problem was the uBlockOrigin. I switched off the adblocker and then I was able to log in.

OMG SHOOT ME NOW!!! - as an adult, trying to login kids, and myself, THIS IS MADDENING! — The puzzle is sinful - With the 2FA authenticator, the friking POS 25 click puzzle is criminal! … and after a dozen failed attempts and a few web searches, I find out that no matter how many times I retry, I will keep getting cycled back to the login !!! —FF12.06 - zip nada zero plugins / extensions ---- I HAD TO INSTALL CHROME JUST TO LOG IN AND POST THIS REPLY … dear god, MICROSOFT >>>> LOSE THE PUZZLE!!!

Logging in to Battle Net Account on Firefox and with a Authenticator attached is still broken. I reset the cache and ran a full clean Mozilla Firefox with no Addons/Extensions and after hitting logging in it still redirects back to login screen.

The only work around I have found is use another browser they all work or Log in to Battle App and than go to Battle Net logo and click Account. It will sign you in.

also Battle Net login works on my Android Phone with Firefox Browser.

Gota disable uBLOCK AND if you have the extension: “I DONT CARE ABOUT COOKIES” as well

This is happening to me as well, Firefox 127.0.1 (64-bit)
Disabled all extensions and the issue persists. Also cleared cache and cookies, but no gain. I’m able to login via Google Chrome browser Version 126.0.6478.63 (Official Build) (64-bit) with no issues.

Still broken as of today. I had to use Safari to log in and post this message.

Firefox 128.0 64-Bit
MacOS + Windows
No Extension
Authenticator attached

Amazingly this issue still persists months later…

Your solution worked for me though. Cheers!

This was happening to me, too. Firefox and a redirect to the login page when presented with an authenticator code.

OP’s tip to block the URL that was 404ing in the developer console did the trick. Thanks heaps!

I love that a very simple but incredibly frustrating issue that affects account security by punishing those who try to practice it has been allowed to exist for at least 6 months. Is anything more emblematic of what kind of company Blizzard has become?

This solution worked for me as well.
Full steps:
-Get to battle.net login page.
-Go to the top of Firefox and select Tools->Browser Tools->Web Developer Tools.
-At the bottom of the page select the tab at the top marked Network.
-Attempt to login and wait for page to reset back to the email/password login page.
-In the Network tab at the bottom of your screen, in the “Filter URLS” section search for ‘android’ without the '.
-Right click the option that appears AND includes the status of 404 (Far left side of the panel is the status column) and select Block URL.
-Refresh the page and login as normal.

I hope the steps simplify it for anyone else having this issue. Best of luck to everyone.

thanks, i have the same issue and your trick worked but it’s a shame that they didn’t fixed it already after all this time

Issue still occurs but I was able to get these steps to work. Thanks a bunch for the help!

This method totally worked for me and I don’t even know what I was doing really! I have in the past accidentally hit a key that would bring up the Web Developer Tools window but I never new what it was for or related to. I was worried because this was on my pc not an android device. I chose the last ping line (sorry I have no idea what it’s called) that had to do with the login request (basically the last request) and blocked the URL and boom - I could enter my password and then approve the authenticator request - THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for your help. This worked perfectly for me.

Jonas, THANK YOU!!!
Your workaround works like a charm!

And the bug persists still… Blizz, come on.
