Application unexpected error

Report ID: C866F6D5-F6B6-4A45-9E49-573727CC5F0A, just installed Battle net, it’s icon does not appear on the taskbar when I’m using the normal app.

Hey, DaFint! Checking the errors, a lot of this has to do with the graphics API and the graphics driver. It also looks like the app is installed on the D:\ drive. Let’s do a clean reinstall and make sure that the App is installed on the main OS drive.

  1. Uninstall the application
  2. Press Windows key + R and type in %temp%
  3. Delete anything related to Blizzard or Battle.net
  4. Do the same for %programdata%, %localappdata%, %appdata%
  5. Reinstall the application!
Note: Please ensure the Application is installed on the main OS drive (C Drive by default). It can cause issues otherwise with permissions and updating properly. The application only takes up about 350MB. The games can be installed on different drives.

Let’s try disabling the graphics and see if the Blizzard Application will launch correctly.

  1. Right-click on the Battle.net desktop icon and select Properties
  2. Select the Shortcut tab
  3. In the Target field add the following command to the end:
    –disable-gpu
    It will look like so:
    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net\Battle.net Launcher.exe” --disable-gpu
Note: There is a space between Battle.net Launcher.exe" and --disable-gpu
  4. Click Apply and then OK to close the Properties window
  5. Restart the Battle.net desktop app using this same icon.

As for the icon, hopefully the steps above helps fix up the icon issue. Otherwise, the following steps should fix the icon issue.

  1. Open the Blizzard Application and right click on the File Icon
  2. You should see a full list of games, then at the bottom Battle.net or Blizzard, right click on this and go to Properties.
  3. Under the Shortcut tab, click on Change Icon
  4. On the “Look for icons in this file,” Browse for the Blizzard Application location. By default, this should be under:
    %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Battle.net\Battle.net.exe
  5. Press Enter and you should see the Blizzard Icon from the list.
  6. Click OK, then Apply and OK again to save.

If it continues, could a DxDiag file be provided? Copy and paste the text file created and paste it between two ~~~ like so:

The launcher works now thanks, I just had to put “-enable-gpu”, but the Icon on the taskbar still does not show up its just the paper icon.
