Upgraded from 3060 ti to RTX 3090 and I have not been able to successfully run MW2 or any other COD. As soon as I launch the game it crashes with Error Code: 0x887A0005 Game_Ship.exe
If I put the 3060 card in = No problems…any suggestions?
I have updated to current drivers
I have rolled back to previous versions of drivers
I have clean installed drivers
Re-installed BattleNet and MW2
Updated DirectX
Granted administrative privileges to COD launcher
Completely reinstalled windows
Disabled all over-lays
Reset VRAM
The GPU will not respond to more commands, most likely because of an invalid command passed by the calling application.
Limitations with Blizzard Support for Activision titles.
In regards to Activision, we only handle the distribution of the game client for Activision. We will assist with anything related to the desktop application and anything with the game client that involves purchasing, activating, downloading/installing and launching. Anything that occurs after you can press the play button is going to be addressed through the Activision support portal: https://support.activision.com/contact-us
I can recommend some general driver troubleshooting in case there was an issue with the drivers when changing the GPU out.
Click “Official Download Here” then open the downloaded file. It will ask you to extract to a specific folder. This is usually going to be the same folder the file was downloaded to (“Downloads” for most people)
Open the folder created and double click on “Display Driver Uninstaller”. It may ask for permission under User Account Control. Select Yes.
It will pop up a screen saying, “This seems to be the first time you launch DDU, Let’s look at the options.” Click Ok, Leave the options set as now and click ok. A second pop up warning you that you are not in safe mode will pop up. That is ok for now. Click Ok.
Select Device Type: GPU and then under Select Device choose AMD, Intel or Nvidia. (If you have multiple brands of GPU you will need to run through this process twice.)
Choose Clean and Restart. Let the system reboot and you should be on the default microsoft GPU drivers. Visit the following link to get the proper drivers for your GPU(s):
If that doesn’t help then try looking for potential software conflicts with other running software then reaching out to Activision Support for more assistance.
