A bit like Crucible of Storm questline we’re made to help a vilain (Malacrass) without really consenting to it and it does feel worse for characters that would already not feel great to help the Amani when even some characters ingame are choosing next patch to not help them.
It was actually great to see during the elves and trolls reunion characters acting more like themselves as they criticized the Haranir for being rather naive thinking history would get different races with a long history of differents together and Zul’jan being the emissary of the Amani which was certainly a poor choice.
But being made a tool when all signs point to it causing more troubles doesn’t seem very in character for many players. While I’m sure some wouldn’t mind helping Zul’jan it does treat everyone the same. Having some choice at some point with “I will not partake in this dangerous ritual” would have been fine.
Letting us take the role of Kinduru would have also worked like we have done in many questlines before with one of the more memorable ones being the mop quests where you played one of the scouts.
