A writer likes their warhammer 40k is my theory.
One of my most favored Imperial thoughts of the day (they have small meme sayings they put out, lots of them) is:
Life is a prison, death a release.
Sylvanas (well writer) was borrowing from that one is one theory I have.
They are in a hurry to close this pitiful expansion so they can move on from it and I agree the faster we get away from it the better. Out of all the expansions Shadowlands was the worst IMO!

Then again, it isn’t like they ever bothered to give the Jailer any kind of appeal or personality or identifiable motivation (up until the absolute last second) or really anything anyone would connect to, so…
Yeah, in principle, it sucks. In actuality… it’s the Jailer - was anyone ever really going to care?
The intro for the raid wasnt bad really, the outro though - much like the sylvannas monologue after anduin, was painful to behold its so badly written.
Basically he felt bullied for trying to end the universe to protect us from something even worse than deleting the universe, our hero!
Wow needed a hard reset and we just missed out chance - god can you imagine if it had ended with him staggering over to smash a giant red button (like the one in Mimiron’s room ONLY BIGGER) and the next expansion was just after WC3 - and as prophesied chosen maw walker champions of azeroth our charcters know what was to happen and set about trying to prevent it all , only to make it worse in new and terrible ways? I mean if your waltzed into stormwind and pointed at Lady Katrana Prestor and was like - SHES UH DWAGUN, with out any proof would certainly put the cart before the horse.
Thats just one example of any number of middle school level ideas we could crank out that would surpass …THIS.
Basically this cinematic sounds like subliminal ‘Come on America, we gotta stand united and not be divded’ motif. Typical from Blizzard nowadays.
Appreciation for what ? An extremely bad storyline…written by a narcissistic writer
Right? Only 2 small bite-sized patches over the course of 3 years (…let’s be honest, 10.0 won’t be out til 2023), for a $180/year subscription fee game is definitely low no matter how much white-knight types might try to defend it/rationalize it
And worse, those 2 bite-sized patches came out in a time where the competition have significantly upped their game and even successfully “poached” a lot of long-time WoW streamers into playing their MMO full-time… on top of all the regular/non-streamer players that have unsubbed.
That would make sense if we were somehow liberated, but the storyline was “you die, become fuel for some massive evil army run by a less articulate C-3PO with a hole in his chest.”

Story went down the toilet since we went back in time for Warlords and Yrel was fine with the orcs after their attempted genocide. Dunno what people expected from Shadowlands storywise but writing was on the wall that it would be trash.
