It was probably just going to be an update on their progress so far (especially for people who haven’t been keeping up with the datamining and alpha streams), rather than some big reveal.
At this point, I think the only major thing they could announce would be more allied races (if those even qualify as “major” anymore). Since I seriously doubt something as big as a new class would have been withheld at the initial expansion announcement.
Or hell, they could surprise is with an 8.3.5 to tide us over until the pre-patch.
Druids get a 5th spec that is tank/heal/dps at the same time, can now equip shields, gain 3 separate immunities and can use spell steal. Also all specs now have an interrupt that is ranged and has no cd.
Also only Vulpera can use the 5th spec
Sylvar for the Alliance! That’s all I care about you can give the Kyrian to the honor obsessed horde or give the venthyr and necrolords to them just give us Fauns please!
Honestly, I don’t see any of the Shadowlands specific allied races coming until later in the expansion (if they’re even planning on doing that). I was thinking more along the lines of some current race/faction that we don’t have access to yet…kind of like they did with Mag’har and Dark Iron before the Kul Tiran and Zandalari were released.
I mean, honestly? I don’t expect anything that crazy though it would be a pleasant surprise. I would love love LOVE that! Especially point 2.
Honestly, what I am expecting is some systems expanded upon detail wise, maybe some incoming class changes/plans, a few legendary items revealed, probably discussing the new mission table system vs the previous iterations, and maybe some new system they did not reveal at Blizzcon but now are at a point to reveal.
That would be my personal expectations of what we will actually get at best.
What would I want though if stars are the limit? Pretty much everything you said is what I would love to hear about.
